Maybe it is just me, because I have not seen anyone else mention it, but to the play and on-court manner of CW bears a strong resemblance to that of Nykesha Sales. The sudden changes of speed from fast to lightening fast, the graceful control of all her body movements, the versatility of her scoring weapons, and the total confidence that anything she tried was going to work. Anyone else get that impression?

Unfortunately, I wasn't either, Michael. But I have seen Nykesha play many times in videos, and yesterday's play by CW seemed to me to be almost eerily reminiscent of her play. Pull up a video with Nykesha, and see if you agree. If Ms. Williams is not a four-year superstar, I will eat my hat! I know that Yogi said that it is bad to make predictions, especially about the future, but I think that is a safe prediction.

Physically on court, both MilfordHusky and I have long agreed, Odyssey Sims. The way she heats up and attacks the rim, she kinda reminds me of Angel McCaughtry.

You are probably right Sale! However, she has the confidence of DT, The ability to attack the boards of Rene. The grace and 3 point and jumper of Maya, She's a composite or maybe, just maybe
Chrstyn Williams is just Chrstyn Williams unique unto herself. That ain't bad at all!

She has the confidence in her game like Maya.

My choice exactly. I knew there was another person here with a discriminating eye. ;) Geno always said as freshman Maya had off the charts confidence. Williams has the same confidence.

I wasn't around for Sales either. CW is increasingly giving me the feeling of Maya as in she is going to have this quiet edge that is going to make shots when necessary. It's not an in your face edge like DT.

Christyn reminds me a lot of Alyssa Thomas.

Lefty, extremely versatile, athletic, physical.

Except Alyssa was never really a 3-point shooter. Christyn has that.

Nykesha was a defensive specialist in year 1. She has yet to break out there. She’s so smooth offensively it might be hard to find the right person she resembles. Maybe Kemba or Bazz.

How about Odyssey Sims when she was a freshman at Baylor?

Yes...Odyssey Sims was who I thought of first.

No disrespect to Nykesha Sales, she was terrific during her time. The women today are much faster, quicker, stronger and more fundamentally sound. IMO you can't compare the two generations.

I think you put words into my mouth with Sims. ;) Squeaks is 3" taller. I still like my more complicated comparison with Durr, Arike (with good sportsmanship), and Taurasi. Christyn's explosiveness to the rim when on the run reminds me of the great Maya Moore. Overall, I think James Harden, with a beard on top of his head, is close.

Well I was around for her play. I doubt I would put it together without your post, but there definitely similarities.

Yeah Harden with an out of control puff. She has his body control, his lefty shot, and when she releases the ball, yeah, Harden. But as I've said, Harden's game is drawing fouls and hogging the ball. But when the playoffs come and the refs aren't calling those fouls his game suffers. Not CW. Her game isn't predicated on her marching to the FT line, and she is far more willing to sacrifice her numbers to do whatever it takes to win. Also when she's dribbling the ball to the rim she physically looks more like Sims, even more, like Angel, than Durr. I like the fact though that she does a finger roll like Maya.

By the way, I'm watching the game again for maybe the 6th time.

She might be but physically she's a little bulkier, isn't she? All I can say is I was pretty awed by her performance and her ability to perform on the big stage. What really made an impression was how she handled the interview after the game and seemed so laid back and yet so personable. I think she's going to be a great one though I'm sure that isn't shocking news to a lot of the Boneyarders!
