I'll take my beheading, but I voted for Duke. My hatred of Duke went away with when K left, and oddly enough I liked K it just felt like the rivalry was Calhoun K more than UConn Duke and as someone in my mid-thirties my Duke memories are, they are pompous balloon knots, but they were pompous balloon knots that we beat in the two most memorable games of my pre-enrollment at UConn years. As to why I am rooting for them I cannot root for an SEC school under any circumstance they are ruining college athletics and as someone going to San Antonio, I'd much rather watch Duke play twice than Houston. I have nothing against the players or Kelvin, but it is not a visually appealing brand of basketball. I'd rather watch greatness this Duke team has a chance to be an all timer in the conversation with us last year 09 UNC 01 Duke and a couple others. I enjoy those debates and adding another team to the conversation in my opinion enhances it. Also, we dealt Duke the most painful loss in their history I'd hear an argument for K's finale vs UNC but 99 Duke is the great "what if" in the history of college basketball don't need another Duke failure overshadowing it.

You just keep saying that hoping that someone will take the bait and argue with you about Danny being better.
I could give a rats arse what others think
Not looking for an argument because it is what it is.
I'm telling why I think Houston is my pick and if I keep saying it ignore it

Let me ‘splain my Duke vote. It does pain me greatly to admit it.
1. It is more a vote for Flagg than a vote for his team. I figure I we didn’t get him (he was never coming to us) then get your natty and move on.
2. I haven’t seen any players on this years team that I feel deserve a punch in the face (no Laetner or Allen). Although when the camera pans their fans most appear to be punchable.
3. Not Houston. I still have AAC ptsd and they got into B12 and we did not (if you think that doesn’t matter look at the big payroll teams that made it into the FF)
4. FL I could accept winning but they are SEC and I don’t want SEC winning this

Now if you will excuse me I need to go Puke

How Kon Kneuppel has managed to avoid the Hated Duke Guy label is a mystery

That's pretty funny. You don't care what others think of your ideas, yet you put them out on a message board.

What's hateable about him? He doesn't seem cocky at all, doesn't slap the floor, isn't a ball hog, no over the top celebrating...I've never even heard him speak. He's just an incredibly efficient good player.

He has bad 80s hair, for one thing

since 2018, they have made the dance every year and lowest seed was a 6, They were 1 seed three times, a 2 seed and a 3 seed
pretty damn impressive
So you're saying their coach can't win the big ones?

Another year with no Big Ten champ feels good.
Not even a Final Four after eight teams made the tournament.
Might be time for them to go to 20 teams and add the team that wins championships and can bring them the Northeast market, including NY and NJ!

There's no excuse, so you cannot be excused, no matter what you claim you're about to do.

What's wrong with floor slapping? I love it when players do that.

Same as before.

Houston or Florida.

Can't let Duke tie us in titles. Also they're Duke.

And Pearl/Auburn is SEC slime (yes, Florida is also SEC, but different vibe).

Duke doesn't have 4 tournament blowouts. They beat Zona by 7 points and gave up 93 points to them.
Funny because the duke slurping has already begun before theyve won anything with some saying this is the best cbb team in many years and the best dook team of all time. Gimmie an Fn break! Uconn `24 and `23 beats them by 15. If dook wins the slurping will be unbearable!

1. Florida 6>3 and their coach won't stay long enough to win any more
2. Sleazy Coach of a former AAC team that beat us in CR
3. Sleazy Coach of an SEC team

Duke is the only correct answer. Flagg is a transcendent talent that we should all be rooting for.

Voted for Houston after FF was set, but I am absolutely shocked at all the Duke votes. Here is the correct answer with explanations for each.

1. Houston - The fact that they haven’t won a championship in the last 7 years or so is kind’ve beyond me. Would’ve bet $ that they had at bare minimum 1 over that span. Kelvin Sampson is a hell of a coach and is top on my list for most deserving with the program he’s led over that short time frame and beyond. Also have never won it all.

2. Florida - UConn taking the eventual national champion to the brink (should’ve won) is always a fantastic calling card. Preseason #21 is by far the lowest preseason rank out of the remaining 4, so they were kind’ve under the radar? Will Clayton Jr. is an absolute baller (has saved their season twice in the tourney) and will need to have continued to go off for them to have lifted the trophy at the end. Coaching angle? I liked Golden before the investigation of “being an absolute creep weirdo” for the lack of a better description (PS but Hurley is such a bad guy!)

3. Auburn - For some reason kind’ve can’t stand Bruce Pearl? Just the cockiness behind some of his post game interviews rubs me the wrong way. But looking past him, they haven’t won a national champion in program history. SEC Football school that has become a basketball school because of NIL ultimately makes them worse than Florida if they were to win it all in my opinion.

4. Duke - People on this thread have lost their minds. Even going to lengths to explain why they want them to win is unfathomable and grounds for jail time as a “UConn fan”. Cooper Flagg, although deserving to win a title, is the main reason our b2b2b bid never really had legs from the get go. Which brings me to the coach… Jon Scheyer is absolutely the worst coach out of the 4 and the least deserving. Handed the keys to a program that can easily recruit their way to national championships because of their brand (recruited, what, 4 or 5 out of top 17 kids?). Seeing them lift the trophy would be the only outcome that would actually make me angry.

Houston. Let Sampson win a title and then retire on top. The Duke vs Houston game is the national championship game, much like several of our championships where the semis were tougher than the final. Houston's defense vs Duke's explosive offense. Defense usually wins, but it seems like Flagg is on a mission and will create the thing UConn fans don't want. Flagg and Scheyer winning the title.
