Obviously health will play a role. It won't be either of the centers because neither is truly dominant. Stewart looks the most ready to make the jump to leader. But McNeeley and Mahaney will get the chance to take big shots (and a lot of them).

reed's main problem seems to be his hands and finishing touch, but he was a versatile player coming out of high school. can do some face up and perimeter stuff and showed enough passing awareness to be on uconn's radar. he's probably a guy with the widest range of outcomes. if he can improve the turnover % and bring out the face up game he can be a serious match up problem. he is that fast and shifty for his size.

I'm really curious here, as we are losing all of our best players. If Alex returns then perhaps him. By the way if Alex does come back then he will assume all the pressure to lead along with improving his draft position.

If Alex does not return then someone has to have a breakout type season, and I don't know which player that will be.

As of now what is your prediction?
McNeeley

Stewart, Alex, Mahaney most nights. McNeeley I see having a Christian Braun type of season. He'll have challenges with the defense early. By midyear he forces his way into the lineup and into the top half of the draft.

Honestly have no idea who we sit by February. Somebody who would start for most top 10 teams will be on the bench. Maybe 2 or 3 such players.

Hot take: even with Karaban coming back, I'm sticking with my answer of Mahaney.

Karaban is an elite, elite complementary player -- even an NBA-level role player -- but not someone you run an offense through.

Mahaney will shine with and without the ball in his hands.

Alex never was not asked to do this last season because of our guards but please remember that game where he put the ball on the floor and was making mid range shots and drives to the rim. We have not seen all of his game yet.

Jaylin Stewart. He's going to be a star and we'll be in the same waiting pattern with him at this time next year
That’s why I hope he gets enough PT.

He'll get plenty of playing time, it's not a concern. There's 25 minutes a game minimum available to him if he earns it

My money is on Mahaney. I dont think people understand just how talented he is and im one of them but Ive heard from a couple talking heads on YT that he is someone that could be in the running for CPoY and first team AA. Ive watch some of his tape and he looks like a really good player but word from a few people is hes going to be special here. I hope thats the case.

I’m guessing Alex production and consistency makes him the only choice imo.

But dreamworld pick is Samson lol , imagine how amazing this team would be if Samson clearly out performs all this talent next year lol.

Reed. People are sleeping on this kid.
He wont be our best player but if he is either we seriously misjudged every other player on this team or hes the national player of the year. That being said i agree people are sleeping on him. He has elite footwork and touch around the basket, can block shots and is a better than average athlete. He was also a top 30 coming out of high school the same year as Donovan whom he was rated ahead of. I think he just ended up in a crap situation and didnt get the level of coaching hes going to get here within a system that will put him in position to use him to the best of his ability and succeed. I think by March he beats out Samson for the starting spot unless Samson makes a major leap forward in his game. Would not be surprised if in his second year here Reed is one of the best bigs in the country.

Karaban is my pick for team MVP, but Stewart and McNeeley will both play like consensus first round picks in 2025. I think Stewart will lead the team in scoring and McNeeley will be Spencer like from behind the arc.

McNeeley. I think he’s going to be a top half of lottery pick.
