The problem with "under-rated" or "over-rated" is it is affected by the perception of how the person is viewed.

The argument may be that Katie Abrahamson-Henderson is, in fact, well thought of as a very up and coming (relatively) young coach. OTH, I can accept that Doug Bruno's accomplishments are not well recognized, partly because he has spent his entire career at one school - and not a "top" school.

In the end, ask a group of fans to pick the same thing and the answers might contain a few different names. Because it is being looked at with different optics.

I'm actually surprised they were able to get coaches to answer that question. Even anonymously, it seems unlikely that any coach would diss another in that way. The survey says that they "contacted 235 Division 1 programs to ask them nine questions about the upcoming season under the condition of complete anonymity", but they didn't say how many responses they received. I'll bet many responses did not include an answer to that question.

I'm really curious about the overall response rate, especially since the Oregon schools did so well: Rueck (OSU), Hebard, Ionescu, Sabally, and the final four question (all UO). None of these is a surprise to me except Sabally, but I'm really pleased to see her get that kind of recognition from coaches.

I'm surprised at where they ranked Megan. At this point, she would barely ,make my list, though I'm hoping she has a breakout season. I agree with the overrated list. As for underrated, I agree with ochoopsfan on Abrahamson-Henderson. She's building a really nice program at UCF. I might add Jose at SFU to the underrated list as well.

As for having a beer with someone, does Holly Warlick even drink beer?
Yes, Holly will drink a beer. I've witnessed it. She is funny, smart, and interesting when not facing a camera.

Thats key. Could just be 20 or 30 responses.

And I wouldnt be surprised if they asked the bottom 235, figuring the top 100 wouldn't respond.

As for the Drake coach earning 3rd most underrated:

ARE YOU PAYING ATTENTION BIG 10?

She's right there in your backyard, and y'all definitely need some upgrades in coaching talent.

I'd swap McCallie with Lindsay Gottlieb.

Cori Close is #3 on the overrated list and UCLA is #3 on "best jobs.". Can't say I disagree.
I’m glad people realize how overrated Karen Aston is. One of many talent wasters in NCAA women’s basketball.

In regards to Karen Aston and Cori Close, the message seems to be that Texas and UCLA have major pluses in which to support/run a successful program, but that both are not utilizing those resources as best they can. The juxtaposition of both may be more critical/damning than the "overrated" alone.

I like them both. Another coach who seems interesting is Jose Fernandez from USF. And having a good beer is intrinsically appealing, so any of those three will do! :D

I had an insurance adjuster from College Station after one Nor'easter and he said that Blair frequents a sports bar in town that has karaoke from time to time. He takes part! And he talks/has a beer with fans. Big thumbs up. He also liked Vic Schaefer a bunch.

Question. ' You have so much depth . ?

4 kids who now have solid experience playing the point
multiple wings/guards with loads of experience who are also deadly 3 point shooters
multiple players who have played the 4

Rueck's comment doesn't jive with the "5" position, but, I believe he sees the opportunity to shore up the "5"(in time) with all the height he has on his squad

More like overshadowed

After the four shadows (Ogunbowale, Turner, Shepard, Mabrey) graduate next spring, Ms. Young will have a lot of the sun/spotlight squarely on her.. No problem, though: she'll handle it just fine.

I did not make that comment to question whether OSU has so much depth. I know they do. I just made the comment
because when I hear some one ask about 'your great depth' and 'will it cause problems', I think about the UConn situation and stew a bit. :(

I am a little late to the party but was glad to see Wes Moore get some good press. Will be interesting to see how far NC State can go this season. We took a big personnel loss in the off-season with Kayla Ealey out for the entire season. Can our highly-regarded recruiting class step up? Can Ace Konig successfully run the point?

The Boneyard looks a little different since I last posted. I am looking forward to another exciting season of women's hoops.
