Who knows with the AP poll. Some writers are in lala land.

As to SC, Dawn has had 10 seasons of a dominant post player. Not so this season. UCLA had the dominant post today.

UConn should be #1 tomorrow. We will see.

Where do people see South Carolina dropping to? For me
#1 Notre Dame (although in the AP I think UCLA will be here)
#2 UCLA
#3 UCONN
#4 South Carolina
#5 Texas
#6 USC

So you’re not impressed with UConn’s 44 pt win over Farleigh Dickinson? ;)
The margin of victory over the only ranked opponent (#15 North Carolina) UConn has beaten so far was not as impressive as double digit wins over top five teams. The most impressive thing about the FDU game was the number of WNBA players coming back to sit through a 44 point blow out.

In the past, they usually don’t leap frog a top 3 team if that team is undefeated. Id be surprised if they bump UConn down. I don’t think there’s a lot of reason for that at this point. Yes UCLA and ND look great, but I think UCLA winning indicates that UCLA is a better team than SC and that SC was overrated to begin with….NOT that UCLA or ND are a better team than UConn. That’s a stretch given that we don’t have a lot of games to draw from at this point. It’s still pretty early in the season. There’s no way to know where Uconn really stands until we play ND and USC or we lose. I think these wins are demonstrating that SC and USC were a little overrated coming in to the season. I think UConn is the new #1. All that being said I have a bad feeling about that ND game, we’ve had problems handling their backcourt the last few encounters. I hope I’m wrong

Yap,yap, yap! How can you get so wound up about who's ranked #1 at this point in the season? I think the bigger deal is that these other ranked teams play in the strongest leagues, and will benefit from all that competition in a way that UConn can't. Of course, nothing can be done about that.

How can we get so wound up? This is the Boneyard. Most of us don’t have a life outside UConn WBB from November to April. :)

My thoughts exactly. I said in an earlier post that S.Carolina was beatable and they should be NO.1 until they lost. Well they lost and now it's UCONN's turn. UCLA is formidable but SC hasn't the defense that UCONN has , so I believe that we can prevail. Has UCLA ever beat UCONN? We should be NO.1 next week and if not ,by the week after we will be. GO FRESHMEN!!! GO SOPHOMORES!!! GO HUSKIES!!!!
UCLA beat UConn last season.

It will be interesting. Frankly I wouldn't be surprised if Uconn dropped a spot behind both UCLA and Notre Dame with South Carolina 4th. Beating #3 on the road is almost as impressive as UCLA beating #1 at home. Beating North Carolina on the road is something but doesn't compare to the wins this weekend in my opinion.
Agreed. A win over 16th ranked NC isn't enough to move UConn past UCLA and ND. Weekend games very entertaining and should give fans an idea of just what Geno is going to face this year.

Got to go to the game today while visiting my son near UCLA. A few observations.

UCLA put USC on their heels and after a run last several minutes in the first half, USC never got closer than 15. USC found more defensive intensity in the second half in which they outscored UCLA. by 5 or 6 but, as I said, never threatened and didn’t look like world beaters.

UCLA is relatively quick. They try to play a lot through Betts who missed many lay ups but was a problem for SC as a defender. Jana would have problems with her

Is Fulwilley injured? She played very little.
Paopao and Rice are quick and effective

Edwards didn’t do a lot, padded stats late, is very long.

Neither team has anyone like Paige, but are overall talented. We are young right now but with Azzi now and Griffin later coming back we become much more mature and versatile. Not sure yet what Ayanna will add. But we will be a tough out. Lots of talent now in women’s hoops. No sure things.

Good attendance and atmosphere. Not a sell out but a sizable crowd. Glad I went.

We have just over 2 weeks to get up to speed. Paige and Sarah are there and theyre a handful and a half. Azzi and Jana should be battle tested by then and we face ND @ ND. Im confident. Dec 5 ND plays Texas That will be a heck of a game. I will look forward to that.

We are now well and truly doomed I say.
Optimism please... In my short term futurescope I see a loss to ND at South Bend, but a win over USC at home. Then more long term I see a close win over SC in Columbia. I don't see UCLA on the schedule until perhaps the tournament so that's a good thing.

UConn doesn’t play again until after the polls close, so I would expect this weekend’s winners to get the bulk of the votes. My guess is UCLA gets the #1 slot with ND as #2 and UConn dropping to #3.
In what universe does it make sense to punish UConn and drop them in the poll? UCLA jumping to #1, OK. But what does that have to do with UConn?

I think ND may get some #1 votes, but I'd imagine the majority will be split between UCONN and UCLA. We did just beat #14 UNC - was up big before letting them back in the game late, and ND started out the season #6, not #2. But we will see. Obviously I'm not a voter, and it's early so we will see how much they value a smackdown of #1 SC vs. the impressive wins by UCONN over UNC and ND over USC.

Side note - i watched the entire 1st half and was shocked at the amount of 1 on 1 play by SC's offense. Looked better in the 2nd half, but it really was an anemic offensive performance for the first 20 minutes...

too early to care, or mean anything. it's before thanksgiving!

what i take from the ucla blowout: the crazy cocks won't go undefeated, though they woulda lost at least once before march regardless.
