I think Cambage is out for the upcoming season!

I root for Minnesota, Connecticut and of course the Sky.

We are Sky season ticket holders! Just wish we had a few more UCONN kids. Swin will do!

They could use Hartley there.

Season ticket holders? Great job for supporting WBB!

Tamika Catchings plays the game the way it is meant to be played. One of my all-time favorites. Not only a great player, but an incredible role model.

If Shoni is still available at pick #11, I think that Connecticut takes her. Chiney and Shoni would be a superior draft.

An overused cliché about which I still have no idea what people mean when expressing it.

Sorry that you don't have an understanding of what this means. How do you know that it is overused if you don't know what it means? (-;

LA Sparks is my team. My favorite player Parker.

I have always respected the UT program and the players that Pat developed. Three of my favorite players of all time are Holdsclaw, Parker and Catchings.

Most people probably do not know that Catchings and Moriah Jefferson are from the same area south of Dallas and that their homes were probably about 5 miles form each other. Jefferson is from Glenn Heights, which is the small town that lived in for several years. I remember seeing Catching play for the first time. I went to Duncanville for a HS game and the moment she walked out of the locker room it was easy to pick her out as the player to watch. She was a thin girl but you could just tell by the way she carried herself that she was going to be one hell of a player.

Looks like 3 rounds. And I assume all 3 will be tonight. Here is a link to the draft order.

http://www.wnba.com/draft/2014/draft_board.html

Typically the teams that finished "down the table" the year before, get to pick earlier in each round. The better teams later. For instance last years winner Minnesota goes last in each round. However draft picks can be traded for players or draft picks. For instance the Connecticut Suns have 2 picks in the first round.

That's the order they pick. Connecticut 1st, Tulsa 2nd, etc. all the way down to Minnesota 36th (12th in 3rd round).

It's also possible there might be trades during the draft. Some team may want to trade a player to get a higher draft choice in order to pick a particular player. So this is the starting order, but that might change during the night.

No, that would be too easy. ;)

Still the order they pick in. For example, 2nd round San Antonio Stars 4 (16) - 4th pick in 2nd round, 16th pick overall. Round 1 (1-12), Round 2 (13-24), Round 3 (25-36).

lol, i can see we may well have some banter on here. Btw I was very surprised there is a kentucky arsenal supporters club here in Louisville. I expected Man u, chelsea, liverpool maybe but not Arsenal for some reason. And thank you, I actually see now, thanks for explaining! I am just used to "transfer windows" and clubs throwing millions of euros/pounds around to get the best players!

I've been looking at several mock drafts. The 2 projections that most stayed with me--The Lynx are so loaded that they take Natalie A.
for some future post. Second a 6'6''Senegalese would be taken in the 1st round.

jude - I think what you can see here is that generally fans of WNBA teams are more interested in specific players rather than 'team' - a lot of that has to do with the 20 year history of the league as opposed to 100+ years for many pro teams where you grew up supporting a team because your grandfather supported that team. Most fans of the women's game get into it through college teams and then follow their favorites into their professional careers wherever they end up. It also points to the four year 'relationship' people build with women players - the men's stars are only around for one, maybe two years of college - hired guns.
And as we all know, a lot of pro teams now follow the 'hired gun' model now that there is so much movement between teams - that fact had a big effect on my NBA fanship - you would start to get to know players and the next year the team was completely transformed and you were being asked to cheer for 'the hated enemy star' who had just been added to your team.

thanks for the info! interesting definately. I would really like to truly get behind a team. We will see how it goes. The only comparison i have as im fairly new to us sports is the english soccer league where i can relate to the "hated enemy star" suddenly playing for you. Most fans are fickle though, soon he was a god!

The other difference is the number of players - 5 starters - you change two and the whole character of a team changes. With football - a star or two being replaced still leaves 80 percent of your team unchanged.

"Silly season" is coming. I have 3 other Arsenal fans at my work. There are a few Chelsea and ManU fans too. Haven't run across a Spurs fan at work though. Got tickets to go see Arsenal - Red Bulls in NY in July. :D

Not Arsenal. :(
