Morning husky fans, I realise I'm new and most people still want to talk about last night but if anyone has time I would love to know a bit more about the wnba. What team do you support and why. Here in louisville college sports take up all passion it seems. Most people don't hardly know the nba exists, least the wnba. I kind of assumed it might be similar in certain places for the wnba. I have never watched a single game but would love to get into it. I need a team and I'm not a wishy washy fan!

I really like Minnesota because I am a huge Maya Moore fan, and because their style of play reminds me of UConn - just beautiful playmaking and crisp passing and outstanding defense.
ah ha! will need to check them out, thanks. Im gonna check who my nearest team would be. I'm also going to check out the schedule for the season, what have I been missing!! :)

The Lynx for Maya Moore, and the Connecticut Sun of course! In Connecticut, in a casino, and a lot of UConn alumnae play for them. :)

Connecticut Sun. My seats are <30 minutes from my living room couch including parking (free), and the walk to and through the casino. Setting aside the disaster of last year, the Sun have been a competitive team for a long while. Currently on the roster are former UConn stars Tina Charles, Kalana Greene, Renee Montgomery and Kelly Faris. The Sun have the #1 pick in the draft this year (thought by most to be Chiney Ogwumike of Stanford).

While I don't root for them, folks who note Minnesota has been a fun team to watch are correct.

I currently root for Phoenix, which includes Taurasi and Griner, as well as Penny Taylor, but has a new coach and has been a bit problematic of late.

It isn't the college game, and while I believe in supporting the WNBA and what it represents as an opportunity to see our college stars grow up, I don't enjoy the games as much as I do college games.

:(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Never have gotten over them being folded....... and my interest in the WNBA has waned ever since

Kinda adopted Tulsa... due to their underdog status.... so I hope they do well... and if they are on tv.... I'll watch them if I can. Other than that... I follow ex-Duke players

If a WNBA team has one or more former UConn players on it, I'll root for that team while watching them
on TV. Here in Chicagoland, the Sky is an obvious choice to see a live game, since they're not too long a
drive from where I live, but they also have Swin Cash on their team. (Not to mention, Sylvia Fowles AND
Elena Delle Donne!) so I try to get to at least one game per season.

Indianapolis is the home of The Indiana Fever, which is only a couple of hours drive from Louisville, if
you want to see a live WNBA team play.

The Ct Sun are my #1. It's not only part of the state but more importantly has many of our former players.

The other 2 I root for are Minney and Phoenix because of Maya and DT.

Thne I'll root for any team that has a former UCONN player on it - and if they get decent minutes. Seattle with Sue Bird, Chicago with Swin Cash and Atlanta with Tiffany Hayes. Though I dont like Angel I'll root for Atlanta but less than the others above. Tiffany is a good player but not a starter.

If you are a Louisville fan, perhaps you would follow a team that has former Louisville players. Angel plays for Atlanta, I think. Perhaps Shoni will make a team.

Jude, go to Indy for a long weekend May 23-25. The Fever play Washington at 7 PM Friday night May 23. Then stay over for the Indianapolis 500. the big race is Sunday afternoon 25th, but there are racing events all weekend. Biggest, most prestigious race in USA - lots of hoopla. Awesome sports weekend.

I root for WNBA teams based on the UConn players and the style of play of the team. One of the interesting things about the WNBA is that it is a litmus test for which former UCOnn players I'm most attached to, particularly when teams meet in the playoffs. I quickly learned that I wanted Sue Bird to win more then Diana Taurasi. And later it became clear tjat I wanted Maya Moore to win more than any other UConn player.

Sparks are going to be really, really tough this year. I always root for Minny but with the moves L.A. made they could very well come out of the West this year. We'll see how all the pieces come together.

haha well i cant wait for the season to start. I like Diana Taurasi (before i got into womens basketball for some reason i had still heard of her/seen her-perhaps it was something to do with the london olympics) im guessing she is quite the legend among husky fans from the catching up ive been doing.

I like to watch the:

Tulsa Shock- I like Skylar Diggins, Angel Goodrich and Liz Cambage. They should be better this year and make the playoffs.

Phoenix Mercury- I like Britney Griner and Diana Taurasi.

Chicago Sky- I like Elena Delle Donne. I think they'll go farther this year.

Washington Mystics- Because they're the only team close enough for me to attend games.

LA Sparks- I like watching Candace Parker and Nene.

When those teams come to play Washington I try to go to the games. Candace was hurt when the Sparks came to DC last year.

I think Cambage is out for the upcoming season!

I root for Minnesota, Connecticut and of course the Sky.

We are Sky season ticket holders! Just wish we had a few more UCONN kids. Swin will do!
