I believe EDD will be the Kevin Durant of the WNBA. Too tall and skilled for the players that have to guard her. Should be one of the leading scorers in the league from day 1.

Great comparison.

When asked about a comparison for EDD [several years ago] Geno thought a bit and replied 'Dirk Novitski'. [sp?]
Shoots inside and out....good handle for her size....not the most physical or quickest kid on the block.

Chicago looks like a seriously talented team...wouldn't be surprised if they came out of the east.

Another good comparison. I would say that BG is a hybrid between Garnett and Duncan. In that Phoenix offense she should just let it fly from wherever she is on the court. Obviously Gaines does not mind watching players jack up wild shots.

Cowens or DeBusschere would shut her down
As would any men's college basketball player, and likely some high school players. Elena is a very, very good woman's basketball player, that ought to be enough right?

I re-watched the second half of the Phoenix vs Chicago game and Phoenix did a very good job on EDD in the second half. BG blocked two of her shots and altered at least three or four more. She only got one bucket around the basket in the second half. The Phoenix defense was able to close out on her much better to prevent her from getting open looks at long range shots and the result was that she shot 18% (2 of 11) from the floor.

As bad as the Phoenix defense was with BG off the floor, they actually did a stellar job on EDD in the second half. I think that Phoenix may be the team with the best chance to keep EDD in check, as odd as that sounds after she carved them up in the first half.

Tamika Catchings.

Just watch what Lin Dunn draws up to control EDD. That will be the big test for EDD in my book.
YOU WIN! I'm disappointed that we went through a page and a half of postings before the obvious answer came up. Even though she played collegiately for the enemy, she got more than double the votes of the 2nd place player for WNBA defender of the year.....and who guards the tough scorer in the Olympics?
