Absolutely! You know your stuff. I like the incredible options as well. Only place in America you can get Cambodian and Pennsylvania Dutch specialties. Blows Quincy Market out of the water IMO.

I was thinking Baltimore because I have a daughter in each city, but my point is that crabs are as much "DC food" as New Haven style pizza is "Storrs food." You gotta travel for both.

Since they are doing things like a NY Slice, cheesesteak, and Deep Dish they should've gone with the half smoke for DC. The salt water taffy one is way out of left field.

If they were rolling w/ a Pat/Geno’s cheesesteak you have to put an Chicago Italian Beef up against it.

A couple of combo beefs hot and juicy from Johnnie's beef can compete with any sandwiches anywhere.

This is a pretty bad list after 1-2. Providence and DePaul should probably be 3-4 in some order, then Marquette. Skyline chili is an abomination. Xavier should be last.

Philly phood is underrated, yes. But have you never been to Chicago? Deep dish isn't my thing but at least it is of a place. And the food scene from "bottom" to top is tremendous. Italian beef? Proper Chicago dog? Polish, Ukranian, Greek all hang with Queens and Brooklyn renditions. Super elevated pub food, the Billy Goat. Girl and the Goat. On and on. I gotta put the Chi at a strong 2 behind NYC and then Philly. Also, DC is a whole lot better than it was in '99 or '04, to pick 2 random years. Finally, I really like RI clam chowder.

Edit: Playing the picky, picky game means 'Nova is, well, in Villanova. DC has the crabs.

I think that would put Chicago at 3 which is where I put them. Providence also has a nice food scene especially for Italian and Portuguese.

Meh. I love a good win/ win food debate. I have eaten my way through both Philly and Chicago over the last 30 years and could die in hog heaven in either. It could be argued that Lincoln Park's eponymous Charlie Trotter (RIP) took the crown from Le Bec Fin's Georges Perrier some 20 years ago as the US's top chef as tastes evolved from traditional to neveau French fare. Both memorable meals for me on way to said hog heaven.

My vote: John's for steaks and Porcellos for Italian Beef.

Downtown Providence has some pretty good food options. NYC of course the top of the list. Not sure what to expect in Creighton...

We were hosting Cincy in FB and for the tailgate I made Cincy chili and had all 5-ways available. I nailed it, too. Nobody touched the stuff.

If they are going by the immediate zip code of the school, NYC, Chicago and Philly are all great food towns with weeks worth of eating options that are top notch. If you want to expand to the surrounding area, it gets more subjective. Seton Hall is very close to NYC but it still can be a heckuva commute and Seton Hall's immediate area isn't much to brag about.

Chicago has pretty much the best mexican in the country. Why does no one get that?

Had it once while driving through Cincinnati. The waitress put a bib on me and gave me a heaping plate 5 way. What could go wrong? I love chili, cheese, spaghetti...

The spaghetti was overcooked mush which I could overlook if the chili wasn't so disgusting. Who the hell wants cinnamon chili?

I've never had it, and I've never been to Cincy other than being stuck in the "Kentucky" airport for a night.

The entire idea behind the skyline chili sounds putrid to me. Can't speak on its taste, but it sounds awful. And I'm not turned off by many foods.

I didn't even look at this list, because Chicago and NY are 2 BE cities, so if they aren't 1 and 2 I'm confused. I know Philly and others have great food, but really?

Actually Creighton has a legitimate beef, pardon the pun. Omaha's signature dish is steak and they have one of the all-time legendary old school spots, Gorat's, which happens to be Warren Buffett's favorite restaurant.

I had a tremendous meal there several years ago when I was out there for work. Great service, too--they tried to marry me off to one of their daughters, but that's another story.

Omaha also seemed like a neat, pretty little college city. I'd like to be out there for the College World Series sometime.

ConAgra has a nice running track around it's headquarters there. Magnolia has a very nice hotel and I got styled with a sweet suite. Had a great business result and an awesome meal so I have fond memories.
