Where would this team be with wins over Cuse, Delware and Rice.?

I agree. But there is what people think and what is reality. With 9-0 and 2 P4 wins we would unquestionably be ranked. Regardless of our actual status.
I guess we will never know so the question is moot but cuse and bcu are about the weakest P2 wins out there. #25 Cincy (7-2) beat Kansas, Iowa State, Oklahoma State (i know), Baylor and lost to Nebraska and Utah. Even at 9-0 with our schedule I think we'd be in ORV at best. We would have not one significant win with all of our opponents in the lower third of college football rankings. That's like ranking basketball programs High Point at 29-6 or UCSD at 30-5

The Jim Mora story and the UConn brand would get us ranked. It’s really not like High Point.

Those three losses were all winnable. Syracuse and Delaware are wins if Joe F been given some bootleg running plays. He had lots of room to run for first downs--with the element of surprise-- that would have sealed both games. Rice was a slippery plant foot away from victory. So what would 9-0 have gotten us, you ask? Exposure for the school. Being talked about, rather than ignored. We'd be part of the discussion by the talking heads. Plus, it would have given more exposure to our key players. They deserve it and are not receiving it. It would show that you can thrive at UConn and get noticed for the next level. The talk would be "The Huskies are a surprising 9-0 . Here's something that has slipped under the radar. Their WR Skyler Bell leads the nation in receptions with 74. Their QB Joe Fagnano has thrown for the most yards (2,529) and TD's (22) without throwing an interception--a remarkable achievement!"
We'll get some of that conversation on TV before the Duke game. Then at kickoff, it's time for us to perform.

Very true, the publicity would have been great. The CFB talking heads would say something to the effect, "everybody knows about the greatness of UConn Basketball on the hardwood. What you might not know is they are getting it done on the gridiron, too."
