Where is Solo Ball?

Dancing in the dark. We don't how much money Hurley has to spend. How much money other teams will spend on Solo. Hurley still needs at least one quality big to split time between power forward and center and a backup point. Then there is playing time.....

Solo, I want you, we want you, we need you

Please come back

We need Solo. Can we win without him? Yes but easier with. An uninjured Solo is going to be different than what he was last season. He could be our leading scorer. I expect him to score the same as Mullins.

Don’t cheap out on Solo- if he has a figure and UConn has a figure, split it down the middle. Solo is going to be a scoring machine this next season; another Andre Hawkins.
Oops- meant Jordan- did I have AJ on my mind?

I think the view is that we already have a scoring machine on the roster, one that is likely better. You don't need to pay two guys to do the same job when you could use that money for things you actually need (center, PF). Hurley has insinuated some things along the way.

The longer it takes the less likely it would seem he's coming back, to me at least.

If true, this makes me really sad. Solo is a very important cog in the wheel of Uconn basketball. A 3 year player who has participated in two Final Fours and won a championship. That experience can’t be minimized. I personally think he is one of the “faces” of the program and we should be doing everything to get him to stay here his senior year.

I’m refreshing this page every 10 minutes compulsively. I hope something is announced soon!

It does make you wonder—if it wasn’t Solo, would they just pivot? Specifically, bringing in a longer, more traditional center and shifting Hines to the 4 to play bigger overall.

It feels like mutual loyalty on both sides may be contributing to the delay.

That kind of move would change their identity a bit—more size, more rim protection, and potentially better rebounding—but it could come at the expense of spacing and perimeter versatility.

Good questions.
But Solo and Bray played together. They start together.

The only wild card here is Nik and Hurley wouldnt guarantee him a thing. Right now there seems to be a thought that Khamenia is a proven entity. You need to make that sophomore leap before you make that sophomore leap.

Nik, Hines, and all of our returnees were either recruited or re-recruited. The thought that Khamenia is gonna come in and rob major minutes from Ross or Solo or Bray is impossible to say.
If Ross or Solo entered the portal they would have been pounced on at the level that Nik was.
People say that Khamenia wouldnt have come here if he weren't guaranteed a certain amount of PT.
They wouldnt guarantee him anything. He could dissapoint.
You're leaving out the six hundred pound grizzly standing in the corner: landrew.

Really hard to know what the staff is thinking, but Khamenia is that piece versatile enough where they can stick him at the 4 for the spacing lineup, while having options at the 4 in the more rugged lineup. Could actually land as a hybrid roster in keeping best of both worlds in adapting to some of the trends we're seeing. In a lot of ways, would be a pretty genius move if they did pull it off. Keeps your roster really flexible.

The issue with Solo in there is that he offers no flexibility given redundant.
