Any thoughts on why Brenda keeps losing really good players to the transfer portal? Just read where Austin put her name in

Her departure is being discussed in the transfer threads. Idk why she cant keep her studs, maybe she overpromises their role? So many great players have transferred out yet she keeps hauling in new ones.

I think that Brenda Freese is a great locator of talent and possible has a great coaching mind but I've watched several of the games her teams have been involved in and her visual responses on the bench were very much unlike most other coaches. If you watch Geno, Muffet, Dawn or Kim they sometimes appear to be candidates for heavy medication but that is sometimes done to connect with their players. Brenda sits on the bench with basically the same look throughout the entire game. Not sure if that is the answer.

To be fair she will get up on occasion and walk back and forth while clapping her hands.

I've already predicted that Angel Reese won't last more than 2 years under Frese. Her justification will be, as I've said, "Coach wanted to change my game". Reese sees herself as Kevin Durant, and honestly, she ain't that talented. Frese is going to want her to educate her back to the basket game (re: Shakira Austin) since Frese has little beyond Collins to play the 5. Reese will put up with it for a while and then bolt. We'll be having this discussion again soon.

You know all these questions about MD. Some of us who have been on this board for many years remember when UCOnn thought they had a great class coming in. MD was nothing back then and Freese came to MD from I think Michigan and that class ended up at cellar dwelle, no name MD. No body could figure it out There were rumors. Tolliver was part of that class. Something happened. A few years later Jeff Waltz who was an asst coach left for LVille. That was a very strange time in WCBB.

MD has had some competitive teams in the past. They have recruited some very talented players who have carried them through some very competitive and tough games. One of the folks mentioned that they lose some of these talented players after a short period of time. I have no idea what is going on there as they have had some of the best recruiting classes in the country but my first instinct is to point to the Coach and the "system" of education being employed. That is enough of my uneducated and uninformed opinion.

If you look at the UConn "system" of education, it is markedly different and takes modesty talented players and turns them into achievers and they benefit the "team". This year's team is a perfect example of that. This team came together and began to overachieve and became a competitive force at the end of the season. There is no doubt that the UConn system with the buy in of the players turns out overachieving "teams". Contrast that with other programs. And, although, recruits are very young, they probably should consider this in making their decisions, but, probably not, and unlikely, because they are very young with illusions of grandeur in their heads.

It's the ME decade, and what Geno, Chris, Shea and now Jamelle did with this year's group was remarkable. Next year will be easier with the depth of talent. Go Huskies. Woof!
