It is likely the Pac-12 will invite Texas State as its eighth football member next month. That will make the league FBS compliant in 2026. It is also unlikely that the league will be able to poach any AAC or MW teams in the near future. The league needs a ninth football member as a 7-game football schedule is not tenable out west.
Ergo this question: if the Pac-12 invites UConn for football only, what demands should UConn make?
IMO, it is these three:
1. It is a football only arrangement: we do not give them any basketball games.
2. We do not pay the Pac-12 any travel subsidies
3. We get a 70% share of TV money
If the Pac-12 comes around and gauges our interest in becoming their ninth football member, these should be red lines in the sand. If they can't accept them, pound sand.
