OT: What sports don't catch your interest?

Great day for USA cricket fans. USA beat Pakistan in what was an upset of epic proportions. Beat 'em fair and square, in OT no less (known as a Superover). Too bad the the matches are on an obscure streamer (Willow) instead of ESPN+.

I cannot watch women's basketball. Women's golf is great.
Certainly is.

Football - just boring to me with too many breaks
Hockey - used to be an avid fan until 96 and couldn’t care less anymore
I'm a Lightning fan...how many NHL teams can you boat to?

I just read that they are having the Olympic trials at a temporary pool inside Lucas Oil Stadium. Not a swim fan, but I would go to this.

Gretchen Walsh crushed the WR in the 100 butterfly in the semi-finals last night (finals are tonight) She spent half her life in Greenwich/New Canaan, mom was an ER doctor at Norwalk Hospital, so nice CT connection.

Also, Kieran Smith of Ridgefield (representing Ridgefield Aquatic Club) made the Olympic team in the 400 meter freestyle. He won the bronze at Tokyo Olympics in that event.

So I guess this pool didn't negatively affect times!

Women’s track is beginning to appeal. Not sure how Parker Valby can break the 10k college record and still look fabulous after, but she does.

I heard about this and went looking for pictures today. This is a good one, thanks! I'm not into swimming either, but seems like that might be fun to give a try

Golf. Just can't watch it. Love playing, not good, but to sit and watch a golf match is brutal.

Hey Guys,

TBH, I can't stand watching ALL TELEVISED SPORTS for very long.

Hate soccer, NASCAR & all football. WNBA is unwatchable with 'bad actors' too. Same with martial arts & boxing, rugby. Hockey? Live maybe. I can watch MLB sometimes, for an inning.

Sports were so much more fun to PLAY than to watch in my day, especially with today's loudmouth announcers constantly selling mediocrity to us. They get dumber every year too along with the immorality of the lying press, making up stories & playing the race card.

I hate the big money at stake & the unveiled constant commercialism, star & Lakers oversaturation & overexposure of sports like hoops destroying all sports. I hate the UConn players will all be hired from now on. All lost in a money-straight jacket. I mean, many of us dislike 'pretty good guy Lebron' now because TV is all-Lebron, all the time. Overexposure! It wears on us all!

I can't even watch a televised college basketball game all the way through. Even this year's championship game. I gotta take breaks from the ugliness & so many low-life players. UConn has been great recently as the lone exception for me.

And I never watch anything with the sound on anymore. Basketball announcers have been ordered to explain the game in detail all the way through. Same formula every game ad nauseum. Too Noisy! Ugly! It's absolutely exhausting to listen to.

It's the same going to any live sporting event or any sport. The commercial noise never stops. The game is never enough on its own anymore. I remember when it was & fans were smarter about the game, without all the made-up stats of today. The difference between live presentation of sports now & in the 1960's, or even the '90's is crazy.

I'm in my 80's now. Can't play anything anymore (except swimming). Watched my first NBA & college games in 1950! But still, after 70 years, I would much rather PLAY in MSG (I did in more than 30 games in NYC high school & college) than watch a televised MSQ game today.

So it's not only some disliked sports I list here - but all televised sports have little for me to root for anymore - or even tolerate - today. It's about quality & historical context for me. I wish all the youngsters today who think televised sports are the bomb could have Watched the LA Lakers with Jerry West & Elgin Baylor playing the Celtics with Russ, Cousy, Heinsohn, Sharman, Ramsay, et all on the warped parquet of the old Boston Garden at North Station. THAT was basketball! For all of $2.50 admission for kids in school!

Diffrent strokes!

Dang...I'm not in my 80's yet...but was planning for a good part of it to be watching sports...hopefully, I'm not turnt like that by then

Soccer is too hard....20 guys running as fast as they can for an hour and a half and no one can score?
Make the goal bigger and get rid of offsides? (should eliminate offsides for hockey, too)

Getting rid of offsides, in theory, makes it worse. Then you would have defenders packing it in all the time especially if they are winning or the weaker side.

A radical change to soccer that I would contemplate is a stopped clock to avoid time wasting. Larger goal frame is possible but most goalkeepers are good enough to cover a large area. Not sure there’s much else you can do.

Soccer is still great. Good games almost everyday. Even the off season. Hate if you must, your loss.
You convince someone to like soccer just like I can’t someone to like folkstyle wrestling, some sports you had to have participated in or been around to get into it.

Is it really our loss? Feels like the tens of millions of US sports fans who watch TV and just don't like it disprove your statement.
I was like you once. However good life is for the average person, it would be better with soccer in it.

Auto Racing, College Football, Tennis, Hockey, Cricket, Rugby, Golf outside Majors, and any other Olympic sports I don't really watch.

Aside from many of the sports already mentioned, As a generalization, and sport that involves judges voting. Unless it's pretty much mirrors the Olympic motto FASTER, HIGHER, STRONGER, (with the exception of more, as in team scoring) its just a farce to me.

Sports I'd rather watch over soccer:

Dog agility competitions
Lumberjack competitions
Darts
Cornhole
Strongest Man in the World competitions
Battlebots
American Gladiator reruns
Those contests in Scotland where they chase a wheel of cheese down a steep hill

The fastest dog competitions are straight fire.

I have grown to enjoy watching MMA/UFC. I don’t enjoy it enough to buy pay per views or attend in person, but I’ll watch it if it’s on ESPN. There’s definitely a divide and rare overlap between folks who watch soccer and those who watch MMA.

Strongest Man in the World competitions are pretty awesome as are lumberjack competitions.

American Gladiators was great for it's time.

They're all more exciting than golf and a lot of soccer matches and I do love the World Cup.
