What makes UConn so good for so long

Simple answer: Geno

Compound Answer: Geno and CD.

Possible Answer: Geno, CD and a succession of assistants who are excellent recruiters.

In Answering this, I have the base understanding that my program’s success (relatively speaking) is based on a head coach, a top notch assistant and a very experienced recruiting coordinator.

Geno’s unparalleled success is, of course backed by CD in scouting evaluating and communicating with prospects. Does he even have a “recruiting coordinator?” Does Morgan have that title? Have her predecessors had that title?

Who have been Geno’s main “recruiting assistants” through the years- especially during the absolute dominant periods like the early 20-teens?

It helps to sign the top recruit in the nation. I don't think Geno has won one championship without at least one superstar. Last year, he started three number one recruits. That's a nice advantage.
When you get the best players in the country every year how much coaching do you need?

Stewart, Diana and Maya account for 9 of Uconns 12 championships....

Lobo (who was the best player at the time) and Strong/Paige (the best players again) account for 2 more championships. So that's 11 out of 12. Because we had the best players.

Ofc he's a great coach and he has charisma. His track record over time establishes personal growth and winning. He is "grandfathered" into these categories as being reliable. And imo the number 1 factor that leads to both these things is his Offense. Which is why he lands the number 1 USA recruit or overseas recruit so often. It's no accident that all of his championships he has had this.

And while he is landing the number 1 recruit, other top recruits can envision how their games would be benefited from Geno’s Offense and playing with other super recruits. But imo what attracts that number 1 recruit other than the coaching staff and the environment which would fluctuate between each young player's pov, is the Offense. What doesn't fluctuate is that the super recruit watches on TV how well that offense is run and they see the beauty of it. And they grow up watching it. Is the number 1 or 2 or 3 recruit envisioning how well their defense will fit in or is it their offense? Offense.
