What does the WNBA do financially to support the draftees that they invite to the WNBA Draft?

Uh…the usual disclaimer: I AM NOT A LAWYER, so I don't give legal advice. That said, unless and until a player is both drafted and has signed a contract, the league can say whatever they please. The player, both pre-, post- and during the draft itself is perfectly free to ignore any and all WNBA edicts, rules, guidelines etc.
In short, the WNBA can choose not to reimburse the player for expenses. Other than that, the WNBA has no legal authority in regard to how the player may be reimbursed.
Example: Ms. Chen and Ms. Griffen are invited to attend the draft by the WNBA. Mr. Auriemma and/or Ms. Bueckers choose to cover travel, lodging, entertainment and incidental expenses from their personal or business accounts. Chen and Griffen are not legally obligated to inform the WNBA of such arrangements. Nor are Bueckers and Auriemma. The entire matter is outside the scope of WNBA authority.

So it’s not unlike Jeopardy! You pay your way to tryouts, and if you’re selected for the show, you pay your way. BUT if you win and you have to make further trips out, the show pays for the further trips.
I don't know about that. Wasn't Las Vagas fined for providing unauthorized expenses to team members.

It seems short sighted to think that no matter what has been written that there is no money changing hands with those invited to the draft. Pay no attention to the dollars behind the curtain. Be it the W or from someone else money is there, would be a dreary event if no one showed up because of no expenses being paid.

That was for the contract from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) where they contracted each player $100,000.00 a year.

This is a tangential reply.
This morning's Athletic ran an article about Aaron Rodgers complaining on the Pat McAfee show that when he flew out to New York to meet with the Jets, at the meeting where he learned for certain he was being released, that he had to make the flight "on his own dime".
Understanding that I'm a Wisconsinite whose in-laws have Packer season tickets, and used to root for the guy, I'm just terribly saddened that he has apparently not saved enough dimes out of his estimated NFL total salary of $381 million to have afforded the plane fare. (Incidentally, he gets paid 10,000,000 dimes to appear on McAfee's show.)
I know the economics of the WNBA still pale in comparison to other American sports leagues but some of those attending the event are multi-millionaires and can easily cover the cost of the draft event, even in an expensive city like New York. I also realize that for UConn teammates who aren't in the spotlight and are little or no NIL money, it might have been a financial sacrifice to support their friends. I hope that the university or some benefactor was able to help them out.
