Complete opposite for me. It's no longer rag tag groups of kids from a local area. These are well-funded year round travel teams. And you can tell these teams look and play different from 10 years ago. And let me throw in the gratuitous shot at ESPN for over commercializing it since they have so little programming the first half of August.

And my personal root cause analysis blames Taiwan Taipei which ran over everyone for a decade using a team of All-star All-stars.

Trumbull little league world series champs in '89 who beat Taiwan was all-stars from the town of Trumbull's little league. Fairfield has two little leagues. Fairfield national is all-stars from half of the town of Fairfield with kids living within those school districts. There is also a Fairfield American consisting of kids from the other districts in the town.

Started watching Mr Robot (Netflix). Seems to have potential. Rami Malek is an interesting watch, that's for sure, but pretty dark characters thus far. Anyone watch it?

that they cast a super cute Ukrainian woman Victoria Masoma and focused on her on the ship, then she just dies

I just rewatched the whole thing too. I think its one of the all time best shows. International Assassin might be the best single episode of anything all time.

I just hit International Assassin last night. Wow. What an episode. Really amazing writing to lead up to that point and deliver that episode. The scene at the well? Good god.

The thing I love about the show is how you spend a good part of it thinking that certain characters are awful and irredeemable. And then you learn something critical about the the past and then you know why they were so damaged.

What's also been cool is after each episode I ask ChatGPT to break down all the symbolism in that episode. It gives a GREAT recap of some things and links storylines together. Things like what the wild dogs or the deer Kevin keeps seeing represents. What the Guilty Remnants represent. If Wayne was the real deal or a hoax.

I enjoyed season 1 of Wednesday on Netflix. I've tried several times to get into season 2...and I just can't do it. Pulled the plug about halfway thru episode 3. It's just dull. It boggles my mind that the creative people behind tv and movies so often don't seem to understand what worked when they first created something, and proceed to ruin it with each subsequent season or sequel.

So Alien Earth. Two episodes in, it's pretty good, but really slow. Wendy is quite appealing as a protagonist and Timothy Olyphant is always good, but it doesn't grab my attention because the pacing is so slow. Does that change? Is it worth continuing?

I finished season four last night. You were right. It is an incredibly solid show that hasn't slowed down or settled into a predictable groove through the first four seasons. I love the fact that even main characters can die off. It creates more dynamic tension when someone is at risk than in a series where you know all the main characters are safe.

My only criticism is that in season four Hugo Weaving is using his Agent Smith voice. He's got more arranged than that and I even though it's been a while since he's played that character, it's too iconic. I keep on expecting him to say "Mr. Anderson".

The Paper on Peacock has potential. It is a loose spinoff of The Office. Strong cast and clever concept. The first two episodes were decent.

A risk for the show is that these days, TV shows, and particularly comedies, are either really big idea (Succession, The Studio) or really small (The Detroiters). Peacock may have gone too small with this concept. I am not sure how much there is to say about a Toledo newspaper.

Any scene with Greg and Tom was hilarious. My biggest complaint about the show is that it could have used more Stewy, just because that character was hilarious too. The scenes with the kids could be uncomfortable, but it was a pretty funny show.

Stick is really becoming annoying. The kid is a jerk and he just doesn’t look like a golfer. Zero is ten years older than him and is probably the least attractive actress I’ve ever seen portraying someone who is supposedly attractive. Timothy Olyphant going for her was so far from believable that I can’t believe they shot the scenes.

I mean, that's all true.....and you forget the fact he's on the PGA tour a few months after being noticed on a driving range.

Yes, and that’s somehow more believable than Olyphant’s character going for Zero. Seeing Santi with Keegan Bradley really did highlight that there’s just no way that scrawny kid can hit the ball like that.

I gave up on Stick when they did the Owen Wilson episode where he hallucinates about a child he lost who he helps to grow / chastise, etc. They were way over their skis.

Tried one episode each of some fairly new series. The spin off from "Terminal List" starring Taylor Kitsch is a maybe. "The Girlfriend" is probably a no. I like Olivia Cooke, but it seems pretty trashy. I think I kinda don't like Robin Wright. Both are on Amazon.
