What about this lineup for now?

I guess the question I would ask is did Solo and staff just finally make this difficult decision or have they known since the end of this past season or earlier? And if it was known prior to this has this had any affect on other player's decisions to either return or transfer? Ross, Demary, Mullins, Stewart? This would have definitely made Ross's decision easier for him.

For those doubting the offense power of this lineup, I'm not.

Demary will be more comfortable in yr 2, and inserting/asserting himself into more offense, and thus more production in points.

Soph Braylon will bulk up thru S&C, and once he gets more muscle, his lethal mid-range and rains of 3 pointers are going to be a sight to behold.

Colben will be a stud. I see him more a poor man's Jeff Adrien in crashing boards, but more polished in offense.

Nik's offense will be in full display after he catches up with Hurley's offense scheme, and remember he is 5* star recruits and very decent 3point shooter.

I think we are ok with offense.

On the other hand, perimeter defense is a question mark. But with Hurley and Kamani, they will come along and round into form in late January.

Now let's get the backup PG and Center! Huskies!

I don't see enough shooting or ability to penetrate in this lineup. We can critique Ball's abilities to drive all we want but the fact is that he was the best at it of any Husky last year.

So that's gone.

I think Ross benefited from having open looks on his 3s since he was the 4th option. He's not going to have that benefit anymore.
Landrew can beat people off the dribble, all 215-235 lbs of him.

Not enough size or perimeter shooters. Ball is a big loss
We just made the NC game with him shooting 29%, and the team about 160 in the country.

Just think, we'll actually be good at defense at the 2. And there are still a ton of players out there. Not sure why we do these rosters before the roster is done.

.-.
Than where does Landrew play? He was ranked 20th in his class.
He hasn’t played a minute in a Husky uniform. I’d go with Jaden and his three years of experience over an incoming and unproven freshman. If he earns the spot in practice, great.

Neither had Castle, McNeeley or Mullins. I do think Ross will start in October. But minutes my not reflect that when all is said and done.

I'm not saying he is automatically going to start but right now NIk is going to see most of his minutes at the 4 until we get other people to play there. Ross will start at the 3 and Landrew will back up there and the 4.

Still think Hurley should take a look at the Georgetown point guard Mack as backup. He can shoot the three.

As much as I think he killed Gtown, he wouldn’t be bad for 10 minutes in our system. Issue is I don’t think he’ll want a backup role after starting for 3 years.

.-.
He's the 15th kid on On3. He's as physically ready to play as anyone in this class. He's still figuring out the sport, but should see a fast rise under our coaching.
Maybe this kid is one of those dudes that just kills it in Year 1. Foolish to bet against him

Yeah man, trash the dude who’s out for the year. It’s your way

Khamenia is a natural 3, and an undersized 4 (I can see him getting more minutes at the 3) he’s also a top 20 out of high school

PG Silas/ county/ portal
SG Mullins/ Landrew/ county
SF Khamenia/ Landrew/ Ross
PF Portal/ Khamenia/
C Hines/ Portal

I see a good sized hole at the 4
But I love the makeup of this team right now

So... the staff must have known there was a good chance this was coming and has been acting quietly as they often do, in the portal, right??
I am sure.

Zanetto posted on Facebook last week that he knew Solo needs off season surgery . If he knew, the staff knew before.

It's gross, he's not a fan.
Not a fan of you two, but a huge fan of the team. I'm not losing hope on having a great season because Solo is out. He didn't play well last year because of a bad wrist, and the team still made a great run, is the point.

Ball did a great job with Mid-range jump shots. He is a not a guard that penetrates and scores at the rim on a consistent basis. Also, you don't think Freshmen Mullins is not going to make a big jump in his game as far as going to the basket especially after an offseason getting stronger. Watch some tapes of Mullins he has the ability to go to the basket and his father even hinted UConn wanted him to play a different role in our offense this past year. I'm not worried about replacing what Ball gave us in penetration. Also, Landrew at the 3 has the ability to take his man off the ball plus we don't know who we are bringing in yet. Let's see who else is coming in as we still have spots to fill.
I think Ball used screens well and found a lot of open shots. He didn't hit enough of them. But his fakes and the respect people had for his shot allowed him plenty of space to drive. Of course Mullins will improve, I just see a maturity in Ball's game when it came to finding his shot that allowed for a lot of penetration.

Was actually thinking the same thing. But I gotta believe Stewie(and his camp) knew this was goin' down . BTW-Danny said to Stewie the door is always open.
Guys in the locker room knew what was going down. They saw what Solo had to do to play with pain. At a minimum, guys looking to move up in the rotation would look Solo’s pain as a chance to do so.

Agree however, his penetration many times resulted in not being able to finish and falling to the floor. His shooting scared opponents, they’d rather he trued to take it to the rim.
