I can't believe how crappy things have gotten after such an amazing year last season. Say what you want about Oriakhi but its nit a good sign when juniors are transferring.

I actually think this is very good news. Oriakhi had become a malcontent and a distraction. I think Drummond will be back next year and we will have a team where everyone buys in.

agreed, but then again I also felt this same feeling of doom and gloom heading into the '10-'11 season and look how that turned out. hopefully this ban gets lifted and we have a season of guys committed to not having a repeat of this past year.

So, making the final four twice in 3 years and winning a national championship isn't enough to prevent people from declaring that uconn basketball program to be in trouble?

With a 70 year old coach there is always going to be speculation about him retiring. With a program that has enjoyed tremendous success entirely under one legendary coach, there is always going to be speculation as to whether or not they will be ok after he leaves.

I'll just say this. I know JC won't leave until he feels comfortable that UConn is set for the long term. His interviews make it clear that he wants the program that he built to remain at the top of the hierarchy. If he retires this summer then he must either feel that UConn will be ok or he just cannot physically cannot do it anymore.

Honestly, just thinking about what he has done at UConn while writing this post makes me pause and marvel about how remarkable it is. UConn will be ok. They won the title last year. They have 3 in 12 years. Rumors are that one of the hottest young coaches in the country wants to hold out and see if the job opens up. I'd say UConn is still in good shape.

Juniors are not transferring. One junior who saw his playing time diminish is transferring. Not exactly ground breaking news in college basketball. If his dad had handled this properly this would not have been much of a story and all of the posts bashing Alex would have been posts bashing the NCAA. We need team guidelines as to what is and what is not an acceptable use of social media.

Our fans make me sad. Yes we were "let down" this by not being as good a team as it could have been. But come on people breath.... Next year will be here soon....

It's always darkest before the dawn. Or it's always darkest before the storm.

I can't really remember how it goes, but the important part is that it is always darkest before it is not quite as dark.

To clarify, it is dark now. Soon, maybe not so dark, so that's a good thing. Although I guess if a storm is coming after the dark, that could present its own problems.

Let's go with 'Buck up, lil campers!' instead.

Or, let's just make fun of someone less fortunate than we are - that's always fun and it sure cheers me up. Where's the UMass kid? Hanging his NIT final four banner? Someone get him.

The problem is expectations...coming into 2010-11, I can't say anyone really believed we had a legitimate shot at winning NC. There were plenty of ups and downs last year, but we more than exceeded.

Post NC, the expectations soared to an incredible level which only makes the letdowns worse. Fingers pointed everywhere and anywhere only exacerbates the disappointing year. I too was caught up in this year's hype with AD, DD being recruited.

Like a blind date, you get caught up with delusions of grandeur, only to be slapped back to reality when you first meet. We have to temper our own expectations. Looks like much of the mob here expected another crown.

This isn't exactly a typical situation. Most juniors don't have the option of playing right away at their new school because their current school may be banned from the tournament.
