2013 might suck.

2014 should include a roster of primarily juniors and seniors, a brand new practice facility, and for all we know Uconn might be holding a press conference introducing Shaka Smart as the next coach.

Take a deep breath and think things through.

Iwas going to like your post until I saw the Shaka Smart line. Let's not rush the Calhoun era to the door yet.

Jim Calhoun's contract expires in two years, so he either has one or two more seasons left. I don't think I'm speaking out of turn on that.
My point is what if we surprise next season, we return most everyone for 2023-2014, and make a huge run? Do we think coach still has it? Do we want him to stay as long as he is healthy and can still coach? Hell, if we're coming off a Final Four, do we rush coach out the door in favor of Smart?
I'm not looking forward to any coach accept the current one. I think Calhoun today is a better coach than Smart. When he's gone it will suck.

2014 should be Calhoun's swan song. He'll have a large group of players ready to leave (Roscoe, Olander, Giffey, Bazz, Wolf as seniors, Boat as a junior hopefully good enough to go pro) and hungry to compete after what will be an unsatisfying 2013.

Let him finish his contract and go out with this group, and then wipe the slate clean for 2015 and beyond.

If you think this year's season was wasted, what are you going to say about next year?

You have to look at the BIG picture.

We have been on a "run" for 25 years+.
If we win 10 games next year it doesn't take away from what JC and his teams have accomplished over the past 2 1/2 decades.

As long as JC has his hand in UCONN basketball we will be fine. He will set the tone that the program will follow when he eventually retires. We'll be back sooner rather than later and this upcoming season will be just a pimple on a fat guys rear.

Dook survived Coach K being out and UNC survived the Gutheridge era and UK will in the future have to survive their 2011-2012 NCAA Champs Banner being taken down :)(I hope) so even the elite do take a hit every once in a while. But what makes them elite is that they come back. and come back stronger. This is what i look forward to with us.

If we take our lumps in 2012-2013 so be it.

I'm not going to cheer any less. The uni still says UCONN on the front.

For all the talking that goes on about 5 star recruits on here it really comes down this season to who the glue guys are. They are going to be the ones that play this season that will determine how we play and if we win games.

I don't expect anyone we face on the court to feel sorry for us nor should they. The NCAA could rip them a new one too in the future.

We still have 3 NC's in the last 13 years, we still got that husky on campus, we're still UConn.

There's a chance you might not know what literally means.

1. That may be the greatest one line put down in the history of the board.

2. Edge of the cliff? Really? We are returning four upperclassmen who have friggin national championship rings. If we're on the edge of the cliff, 98% of the basketball world is already at the bottom looking up wondering how they get near where some are worried we may fall from. If anyone was smart enought to learn anything from last season, it's that chemistry has as much to do with winning as raw talent. We have enough raw talent to do fine if the chemistry and execution is better. If we have our coach uninterrupted, I'm not at all suprised if we have a better Big East season than we've had since '09.

I think there are times when even the best of us get down. Cut deadrody some slack. I've seen him stick up for the program through some harsh criticism.

Small team, bunch of guys who "stuck it out" and stayed to play for JC, the staff and the university??? I think it will be fun............can't have it all, just enjoy what we have and people leave and the spoiled will complain. Instead I will seee the sweat, hard work and some new recruiting to balance it out the year after. It can only be as fun as we make it.....it is what it is.......heck, we may get cleared for postseason and play in too!!;)

If in 2 years Calhoun or the new coach land Selden or Vonleh or whoever, all this will be forgotten instantly.

Hey, at worst this is a rebuilding year. They happen, nothing wrong with that. I like to think optimistically that we'll hold on to a few of those new scholarships that open up this year and save them for 13-14 season. By then we should have 4 championship seniors, 3-4 experienced juniors, a Kemba-esque Junior PG in Boatright, and a decent bench. That leaves 3 scholarships for a top recruiting class with a Hall of Fame coach?
Yeah, I'll take that.
