Villanova should've beaten BC as well, and they would have if not for the QB lobbing a pass behind his wide open receiver in the end zone.

William & Mary had West Virginia on the ropes, 17-7, going into the 3rd qtr.

Not an FCS upset, but since the MWC was mentioned earlier, Boise got beat handily by Washington.

I knew someone would post this as defense of PP. You have to be a clown to try and defend or justify anything about his performance.

More feel good news:

Eastern Washington 49
@ #25 Oregon State 46

The QB didn't make the play, part of the game. BC should have picked up a fumble earlier in the first half before Villanova's second touchdown and returned it for a TD, they didn't. Again part of the game.

BC came out in the second half down 14-7 and imposed their will on Villanova and won the game. If BC had been down 21-7 at the half they still would have won the game.

YOU have to be a clown to assume that the score was posted in defense of Pasqualoni...

So after taking some time to think about this, I've come to the following conclusion: Division 1 (FBS) football is trying like crazy to become MORE exclusive at a time when it's clear that the talent level of players and teams across the country are demonstrating a great deal of parity. In other words, because of the 85 scholly limit for schools, there are a lot of quality players going to non-BCS and FCS leagues.

That's not to say we didn't lay a friggin' egg on Thursday. It's just to say that this level of quality and these types of performances didn't seem to be around in the FCS ranks back in the mid 90's as far as I could tell...
1972, ????? to 105 schollies. 1978, 105 to 95 schollies. 1992, 95 t0 85 schollies. IAA now get 63-65 schollies.

Almost every time a Towson player made a play it was followed by which BCS school they transferred from. Scholly limits have a part, but I also think a lot of talented players nowadays would rather play early at a 1AA school than sit the bench for 3 years and hope to start as a junior or senior (and hoping a new coach doesn't come in at some point with a different scheme and his own recruits that he likes better). A lot of kids go the the NFL from the 1AA, and I think it'd be pretty easy to convince a bench player that actually playing for 3-4 years will better prepare them for a pro career in football.

If you are good enough - they will find you.

My spin is that PP was just predicting future events and making a case that UConn and not Cinci belongs in the Big 12!

Huh?!?! Who said I was defending PP??? Read this and then please tell me how I am defending PP: http://the-boneyard.com/threads/cmon-warde-what-are-you-waiting-for.43185/#post-678496

No, I posted this score to try to help make myself (and hopefully others) feel a tiny bit better about losing to a friggin' FCS opponent at our home opener of our most important football season ever. This thread is an attempt to help us all cope with the embarrassment of being blown out by Towson by showing that other teams are losing games to FCS opponents too. Nothing more. I posted a score of another game (like others did in this same thread). I did not sing the praises of our inept coaching staff.

#1 ND St beat Kansas St.
#4 E Washington upset FBS #25 Ore St 49-46
#11 Towson beat UConn 33-18
Unranked McNeese St pounding USF

Eastern Washington beat Oregon State?? I wonder if OSU's coach will be FIRED... maybe we should trade PP and GDL to OSU for their coach and a coach to be named later!! :)
