If Slocum is to be successful at the next level, it will have to be as a 5'7" point guard. Playing off the ball cuts down on the potential for her turnovers and the team's offense runs a lot of plays for her. So, I would agree that her efficiency has improved. I believe that all three starting guards for Oregon State average 5+ assists per game and have shared time running the point this season. You don't see that happen very often at any level.I’ve often felt that Slocum’s challenges at MD and during her 1st year at OSU related to the fact that she was a natural shooting guard who was being asked to run the point. If Rueck has her playing off the ball, looking for opportunities to receive the ball in the flow of the offense and score, Slocum should be a much more efficient player.
