We are now in it. Whether or not you wanted we are in it for now and are one of the dominant basketball teams in the conference. So let's do our best to enjoy it.

Rutgers and Ville got more play than UConn. How stupid is that?

A few observations:

Memphis fans are celebrating like crazy. Welcome to the strange world of Memphis, lol. Many of us UofL fans are anxiously awaiting your perceptions. And, take this from the experienced, you may expect a wide range of perceptions, from fabulous Beale Street clubs and barbecue to knife throwing fans and muggings near the arena. They are pretty much a tradeoff for WVU. If they hate you, it will be pure.

UCF fans will seem to be a new category of nasty. Now, this just may be because they're all young as hell and inexperienced at anything lasting longer than a couple years, and have a very bizarre sense of ethics, but - hey! - they modern. They seem to detest Louisville with a real Southern Passion, much the same as Memphis, but at least Memphis has a history. If these guys hate you, it won't be pure. They thrive on simple jealousy.

Louisville is prepared to endure it all for a year and - with the exceptions of UConn and Cincy and maybe USF - will be delighted to anticipate our next destination. For me, losing what had become an incredible and crackerjack sporting relationship from Dyson to Springer and Mike Ort is a terribly sad pass.

Always a good read Senore.......just wished I knew enough about ALL of UConn sports to know who Mike Ort was....maybe a goalie??? Had an Ofer named Olt who is with the Rangers though ;)......

Can't wait for the onslaught that is new conference fandom!!!!

Wiseass, lol. So I had me a senior moment. Yeah, Olt. What a player and UofL killer.

Yeah, we go back just a bit with a few of these places who will be new to you. For a time, Memphis was totally our biggest rival and the team we loved, loved loved to hate.

Never realized the anti-American sentiment before...

Fitting for the day.

The most American brands in college sports

In honor of Independence Day, we present you the most American brands in college sports.

>>3. The American
Technically, the old Big East is actually the American Athletic Conference. But the newly-named league, which needs a cheat sheet to keep up with its members, likes to be called the American. If that confuses you with Keri Russell on "The Americans," you're not alone.

In the American tradition known as capitalism, the Big East got raided by the ACC so it raided Conference USA and called itself the American. The conference describes itself this way on its web site: "Not entirely unlike the nation that provides its namesake, the American Athletic Conference was born from an ideal in which members with ambitious goals are provided with the means to succeed in their quests for excellence." Who knew South Florida vs. Central Florida could be so patriotic?<<
