I was trying to think back on some of the under-the-radar weird regular season loses we have had as a program. I keep going back to that G-town game in Hartford during the 08-09 season.

2011-12 when I thought we were 100% repeating we lost to UCF and I almost punched a hole in my wall. Really humbling experience.

There have got to be a ton more I'm not thinking of but those two stand out to me.

A more recent one is St. John’s during Sanogo’s freshman season. We were obviously the better team with Sanogo on the floor but Coach Hurley decided not to utilize him. Very, very frustrating loss.

The double home losses to Wagner and Northeastern to start the 2016-2017 season when we were pre-season ranked #18.

Unfortunately those losses would prove to be a very ominous sign of what was to come... the protracted disintegration of what had started as a very, very promising coaching career for one Mr. Kevin Ollie.

I went to the Media Guide to get the correct date, 12/15/83, at UMass in the Cage. UConn had won the previous 8 games in the series and went on to win the next 13 after losing this one. UConn controlled the entire game but got the yips in the last 4 minutes as UMass mounted a furious comeback. Even so, the game seemed in the bag as they had the ball at mid-court with 2 seconds left. UMass didn't even challenge the inbounds. But after receiving the pass, Earl Kelley for some started walking without putting the ball on the floor. Whistle, travel and of course UMass hit a half-courter at the buzzer to tie. The Dom Perno led Huskies went on to lose in OT.

There were many during the Ollie-era but that UCF one you mentioned brought back bad memories for me. Lost a 60 in. screen TV during that game. Threw my drink on the ground splashed up on to the TV. Didn't realize during cleaning it had gotten into the TV and in 20 minutes my TV was skizzing out. Oh man nothing like the intense rage produced when high expectations are combined with deplorable play. That year with AD was infuriating.

The obvious one - George Mason in 2006. Also the fact that we always lose the first game of the conference regular season...And finally, losing at Tulsa in what felt like every season while in the AAC (glad that's over!)
Those frank haith led teams were always underrated, and some years were definitely tournament worthy if not for the AAC’s poor reputation among the committee. They were always thought of as kind of a middle of pack AAC team, but were definitely consistently better than others like Tulane, Temple, and UCF. Looking back, not surprised we struggled against them seemingly every game we played.

I believe that you're thinking of a different UCF game.

I wasn't, I remember that game vividly. My wording was weird, I know it wasn't during the Ollie-era. I meant to answer his question of what games were terrible losses by saying there were many in the Ollie-era while also agreeing that one of the worst was that UCF game.

The game against Miami in January 2003. Up 4 with 9 seconds left. Was watching with some people from work and we were in Florida. So as the only obvious UConn fan after we lost every person in that bar/restaurant talked smack……. Bad night as I was also with clients so had to take it without a fight since none of them really knew how much it bothered me.

This the game I thought of when I saw this thread title. I can still see that one perfectly in my head. Gordon hits 2 foul shots to go up 4. After the second goes in, every Husky fan watching exhales and mutters “that seals it!” Only to see a Miami guy take the inbound coast to coast in like 4 seconds and the for some reason the inbound after the quick bucket goes right to Darius Rice who steps back and drains the 3 for the win. Crazy!!

Right. I was thinking Taliek inbounded it. But it was Tooles inbounding to Taliek who sorta ran away from the inbound pass like he was trying to start a fast break where all he had to do was catch it and stand there. So I remember everyone blaming Tooles for the bad inbound but I blamed Taliek for not just making sure he secured the pass.

I remember a game where Providence came to one of the UConn home sites and just ran us out of the gym during the peak of the Calhoun era. They just ran it down our throats for like 30 of the 40 minutes and pretty much every UConn player just quit. They weren't even close to our level and throttled us.

Anyone remember that one - when it was, etc?

Yup. And Tooles was a flaming dummy. After the BE final in 2004, where Ben Gordon carried the Huskies, Tooles wouldn't even give the ball to Gordon at the end of the game.
