We lost Hartford in the Connecticut mutual classic first one year. That was brutal. And lost to Fairfield at New Haven. We get beat by Tate’s relative Tony George. We had Terrance Warren playing play defense on George.

A one-off from that. I believe it was a Connecticut Mutual Classic game in '85 where Northeastern had Reggie Lewis and a firespit for a head coach and they ran UConn out of the building. I was a young kid then and was thinking if UConn could only get a coach with that kind of fire and players with the talent of Reggie Lewis.

Donyell's last game against Florida was strange. They didnt seem that good. Had that heavy low post player who scored some significant buckets late in the game.

The missed free-throws at the end also seemed to be the catalyst for Donyell's rocky relationship with our fanbase.

I went to the Media Guide to get the correct date, 12/15/83, at UMass in the Cage. UConn had won the previous 8 games in the series and went on to win the next 13 after losing this one. UConn controlled the entire game but got the yips in the last 4 minutes as UMass mounted a furious comeback. Even so, the game seemed in the bag as they had the ball at mid-court with 2 seconds left. UMass didn't even challenge the inbounds. But after receiving the pass, Earl Kelley for some started walking without putting the ball on the floor. Whistle, travel and of course UMass hit a half-courter at the buzzer to tie. The Dom Perno led Huskies went on to lose in OT.
Isn't "Dom Perno led" an oxymoron?

That's the first time that I ever heard that Tate George and Tony George were related.

I was there that night in New Haven. The games wasn't close -- Fairfield utterly destroyed us. That was the UConn team with what the New York Post once called "The Smurfs" -- Kelly, Hobbs and Giscombe starting together.

How about the stinker against Syracuse in 1999 -- 59-42 loss in Storrs.

Anyone remember losing 53-51 to Stanford during the 2013-14 season?

The double home losses to Wagner and Northeastern to start the 2016-2017 season when we were pre-season ranked #18.

Unfortunately those losses would prove to be a very ominous sign of what was to come... the protracted disintegration of what had started as a very, very promising coaching career for one Mr. Kevin Ollie.
Didn’t purvis Adams Gilbert and larreir all get injured in that first 3 game stretch?
