Week One Non-Uconn Games

I’ve been watching him forever. He’ll only get better playing in games. We will have to wait to find out.

If he were any good he would have put Quinn Ewers on the bench. The media wanted to give him the Heisman yesterday because of his last name. He is the most overhyped player in a generation.

I’m not sure they’ll let him get back on the plane if they end up losing.

Bad day for SEC with Tex and Bana losing. If LSU loses too, it’ll be catastrophic.

MAC had perhaps even worse day with most teams getting stomped. Even future-departing No Illinois barely beat Holy Cross 19-17, and Kent edged recent D2 Stonehill 21-17.
UMass got its doors blown off by Tempke 42-10.

lol FSU fans storming the field.
Have some dignity folks. You’ve won NCs.
And this isn’t even a top 5 Bama.

S-E-C

Alabama just lost to a team that went 2-10 last season. Together with the Texas loss, the SEC is going to have a hard time justifying getting all the at-large bids to the CFP, but they will find a way to do it.

Watching the SEC lose is wonderful. Watching the SEC get bounced from the playoffs will be even better.

Stonehill is FCS these days, playing in the NEC with CCSU.

The thing that I always thought weird: he has been described as the 2nd coming and yet he sat on the bench for 2 years. Generational talents start from day 1.

Most overrated in a generation

37% off target

11-30 or something awful like that

I agree that he is overhyped and certainly not worthy of Heisman discussion.

But he has the athleticism and pedigree to be successful. I’m much more patient and certainly more positive than you. I’m willing to see if he improves. I have no skin in the game. Like I said the future will be revealed.

It is the future.

Zion Turner (3rd string for Marshall) looked better than I ever saw him during a garbage time appearance against the 3rd/4th string Georgia defense.

Anyone who was actually paying attention realized Arch was overrated by his senior year in high school. He was a top-ish QB for the class on a par with the others. None who have set the world on fire either.

Julian Saylin (his opposite today) was similarly overrated during his junior year, but not being a Manning fell down the ranking a little (still, he is the starting QB for Ohio State). You will note that Saylin didn't exactly set the world on fire today either.

The Texas offense will gain some momentum against weaker teams and Arch will grow in confidence. Opening up the offense a bit will open up running lanes allowing him to be good college QB by midiseason (that and having NFL talent all around him, which never hurts).

Give the kid a bit of a break. This isn't a reprise of the Sanders hype where the kid ate it up and believed it. The Manning family has been trying to downplay things from day one (perhaps over doing it, if anything).

Also in the Georgia game (before Turner came in), Ryan Puglisi (Avon Old Farms) got his first action and led Georgia to a TD (throwing more impressive passes than Gunnar Stockton, the Georgia starter). It will be interesting to see if he is will to wait two years to see the field or transfers out (assuming the run-first Stockton remains healthy and doesn't give Puglisi an opening as a starter before that).

While touting Connecticut talent. Ellis Robinson IV of New Haven appears to be the starting CB for Georgia. He struggled to see the field last season so this is a pretty big step forward.

I seem to remember some recruiting guru getting drilled for saying Arch was a 3-star recruit if he had a different last name.

Auburn has given 3 RBs touches against Baylor but Robinson isn't one of them
So predictable that this was going to happen. If his goal was to go to the NFL, he should've stayed at UConn. Same thing could have easily happened to Bell had he transferred. Instead of being "The Guy" in a system that he excelled in, he is now just another player in a large pool of extremely talented players.

KSt with an impressive 80 yard, 60 second drive to retake the lead with 42 sec to go

North Dakota went into prevent mode, which allowed KSU to drive down the field. I really hate the prevent D. I thought North Dakota should have blitzed and put pressure on the QB vs this insane prevent D. This ultimately is one of the reasons they lost.
