Week One Non-Uconn Games

I'm rooting for an LSU choke. Would love it if there is no redemption for the SEC tonight.

So predictable that this was going to happen. If his goal was to go to the NFL, he should've stayed at UConn. Same thing could have easily happened to Bell had he transferred. Instead of being "The Guy" in a system that he excelled in, he is now just another player in a large pool of extremely talented players.
He is a well paid “just another player” in a large pool of talented players. Sometimes getting the money now and chasing the dream is the way to go in case the dream never happens. It stinks from a fans perspective and for the game, but I don’t blame these kids for leaving here for bigger schools after having big seasons.

Ugh. Washington looking pretty unimpressive. They controlled most of the first half, but score board wasn't reflecting that. Then they had a turn over when they were driving, Colorado St. marched down the other way and scored to tie it at half time.

.-.
Washington St. barely got past Idaho and Oregon St. got dominated by Cal. The new Pac 12 is probably not gonna be very good. I know we're a year away, but both these programs are in a tough position and probably aren't going to improve much any time soon.

Washington finally pulling away in the 2nd half but their D is scary bad. Jonah Coleman is a stud.

Watching the Bama fan in blue shirt give the finger to the camera cracked me up.
We old timers remember a Monday night NFL game back in the '70's when a Houston Oiler (I think) fan did the same thing. "Dandy" Don Meredith quickly commented in his deadpan drawl, "Waal, he's just tellin' everyone his team is numbah 1." (Or words to that effect)

This is fantastic, I love self deprecation

Is this real or AI? He’s definitely got the Manning comedic chops. He’s got a future in the studio if playing doesn’t work out. Charming and witty.

It’s AI.

Anyone who was actually paying attention realized Arch was overrated by his senior year in high school. He was a top-ish QB for the class on a par with the others. None who have set the world on fire either.

Julian Saylin (his opposite today) was similarly overrated during his junior year, but not being a Manning fell down the ranking a little (still, he is the starting QB for Ohio State). You will note that Saylin didn't exactly set the world on fire today either.

The Texas offense will gain some momentum against weaker teams and Arch will grow in confidence. Opening up the offense a bit will open up running lanes allowing him to be good college QB by midiseason (that and having NFL talent all around him, which never hurts).

Give the kid a bit of a break. This isn't a reprise of the Sanders hype where the kid ate it up and believed it. The Manning family has been trying to downplay things from day one (perhaps over doing it, if anything).
You also need to keep in mind that Arch is playing for one of the most overrated coaches in college football.

lol FSU fans storming the field.
Have some dignity folks. You’ve won NCs.
And this isn’t even a top 5 Bama.

And that pretty dress would look better on me, honey..LOL

Heck...beat a top 10 ranked team, in your season opener after a miserable season, rush the field and pay the ACC the required $50,000 fine....

The field was rocking..fans engaged...the players came to play like they were eating iron and sh..ng nails....What you want to see...

Bama's touted O line with future NFL guys, was manhandled...Me? All I wanted out of FSU was to play with enthusiasm...I liked their hustle.

Now I was just old school...had Alexa put Otis Redding on..."Dock of the bay"...Watching the tide roll away.

Found the Manning family burner.

I agree but the Manning family wouldn't have let him go there if they felt that way, so the overrating is coming from a high level of the football world (or you and I are mistaken).

Any thoughts on TCU giving 3.5 to UNC on the road? I like giving the points but I'm a little biased against BB. Here's what TCU did in the Portal:

I wouldn’t bet this game…way too many variables with UNC. Like you, my tendency is to bet against BB…especially since he tampered with one of our players, but betting with emotion is a bad thing…lol.

Miami looks bigger, stronger, faster and better prepared. Score reflects those advantages for the U.

Notre Dame just lost on prime time with their shiny helmets, and I'm happily drinking a dark beer... It was a good day, even if it was an all cretins crew team that beat the golden domers.

toughest opponent of the year for Irish
They should win the rest

Remaining road games are Ark BC Pitt Stanford

Miami won in spite of Cristobol and his conservative nature. They should have won that game earlier than they did.

To your point, Miami had four straight possessions without a first down until their winning drive.

I really enjoy college football. What I hate is hearing about college football playoff implications in August. This was discussed as early as game in Dublin last week.

It’s the only game of the night so I wouldn’t touch the spread or ML. If you want to play something, play some props.

Miami did what it had to do to win the game. They have the best offensive line in the country and a stable of stud running backs. I have no problem with MC turning the keys over to his defense and letting them eat. Bain and Mesidor single handedly wrecked that game.

ND was always going to close the gap. They are a top 5 team not a bunch of G5 slappys.
