Week of 1/15/24 Other Games

Watching. Very good game so far. 43-40 Marquette at the half after a buzzer beating layup by Kolek. It's been very close almost the entire half.

Nova hot early from 3. They got into trouble a few times due to being on road. Driving to nowhere with no plan. Sped up. Led to turnovers and Marquette took the lead. Ighodaro has been good.

Marquette getting bullied on the boards this half.
Nova will give us fits Saturday, they space well and prioritize the three, which we struggle slightly to guard. Still see nothing out of Armstrong, but am definitely worried about the Dixon matchup nightmare

Marquette immediately with a run there. Good answer from Kolek and crew

Don’t think it’s a lock he’s gone if he misses the tournament

We do quite well in limited three point attempts. Getting to the rim, though...

Almost every D1 team in CT in contention this year

Yale tied for first in the Ivy, Quinnipiac and Fairfield top 3 in MAAC, Central undefeated and in first in the NEC with Sacred Heart not far behind.
Fairfield stumbled badly against Niagara on Friday night to end its 9-game win streak and then turned it around and shredded Canisius on Sunday. Not the best weekend for a road trip to Buffalo.

Playing only two opponents outside the Top 200 has Xavier with a respectable 45 NET rating despite an 8-8 record.

Dalton Knecht putting on a show on ESPN2 for TN versus the Gators. 22 first half points scoring in all ways including 3-3 from three. Kids a player, stud.
39 now with a couple minutes left... On 22 shots.

Xavier was on pace for 113 points at the under 8 timeout, but cooled off the last minute or two.

And playing those opponents well (to be fair). But, yeah, that definitely helps us (and was a great win for Houston as well).

This game is peak Posh Alexander. He is a 26% 3 point shooter this year and is hitting ridiculous shots. Matta is smart to pull him because he is about to airball 3 straight 25 foot attempts.

It has nothing to do with us, but I am really sick of Capel. Currently getting manhandled at home by Cuse. Capel has a roster that should be a bubble team with a competent coach. They'll be lucky to get an invite to the CBI, if that's still a thing.
