This holiday week begins with well earned time off by WBB players and coaches, No top 25 games until Friday. Wishing all the BYers a happy, healthy, and safe holiday season. Only one top 25 matchup this week, however as there are conferences with > 1 team in top 25, we'll start seeing more of those soon. Big East league games are also included.

@BRS24 What is the reason for the color coding for USF? Just curious, not complaining about your fantastic weekly graphs...

I see two top 25 match ups if I'm reading this correctly.

Michigan State at Maryland and Michigan at USC on Dec 29. Am I reading this list wrong?

Nope. Trying to do the grid, wrap presents and you know, a typical Monday am. :D
All good. I'm returning from Buffalo after a Bills game and a lot of tailgating. I'm still not sure what time it is :D

@BRS24 appreciate you as always for these breakdowns. I am looking forward to Michigan and USC. I am curious to see how Michigan plays. One thing I have noticed, nobody talks about teams (there are a quite a few in the MEAC & MAC) like Michigan starting guards at all five positions.

Sunday Dec 29th.

The battle for bragging rights in Az - with a 2pm MST tip on ESPN plus in Phoenix as GCU will bring a ,10 game winning streak (after they beat Park on the 27th) into the contest with Northern Arizona, losers of 2 of their last 3.

The Lopes will be the favorite as Jacks coach Loree Payne looks to right the ship before Big Sky play.

Trinity San Antonio will lead a high-scoring Antelope attack and it will be a long afternoon if NAU doesn't aggressively protect the three line.

I'm also looking forward to the contest between Lara Ekstrup and Sophie Glancy down low. These are two very talented post players and Ekstrup will match her five years of experience against the Big Sky preseason player of the year.

For the Jacks to upset the Lopes they'll need to dominate the offensive boards, get out of their comfort zone and defend the three line, and hit their threes.

These are the two top teams in Arizona as both the Lopes and the Jacks defeated the kitties. Molly Miller led her team to an 11 point victory over ASU in Tempe last month.

With two losses down the road to the kitties the Sun Devils will be winess against their in-state rivals while the kitties will have two losses and after this game the Jacks one.

No surprises here in Phoenix as the Lopes lead Park 27-13 at the end of the first quarter.

No Trinity San Antonio in the house, wondering if she went home for the holiday, and if home is Puerto Rico. If so, I wonder if she is back for the Battle for Arizona Sunday night against the Jacks. If not the game will be that much closer as Tierra Brown will have responsibility for Sophie Glancy. Loree Payne is hoping TSA is booked on the notoriously holiday challenged Southwest Airlines

With a little more than 24 hours till the 2:00 p.m. Mountain Standard Time tip (on ESPN plus) against NAU some interesting perspective on the Lopes current streak of 10 in a row.

GCU will be favored in all 17 remaining games (double digits in 11 games according to Massey) with the closest being NAU tomorrow and a road game at Abilene Christian.

Do I think Grand Canyon will end the year on a 27 game winning streak? No. But I think the possibility is certainly greater than 10%.

I can't wait to see if Trinity San Antonio is in the house and starting lineup tomorrow. If not Loree Payne's squad has an excellent opportunity to pull an upset. Massey has the Lopes as a six-point favorite 75-69 and if the Jacks score 69 points there's no doubt the Grand Canyon will win.

In Friday's game against Park, Molly Miller without Trinity San Antonio and playing her bench throughout the second half saw her team score 108. NAU not known for defense is going to really be stressed particularly if Grand Canyon gets off 30 3 pointers. (They were 12 of 26 Friday night). It's possible we can see 55 3 pointers in the game tomorrow afternoon.

The two former UNLV Rebels, both seniors, on Miller's team demonstrated the offensive depth of GCU. Durazo-Frescas was 9 for 16 from three land and I think poses a huge challenge for NAU. Nkeka Obiazor had a double double off the bench and was 11 for 16 primarily in the paint. Obiazor is limited defensively and I wouldn't expect to see much of her unless Ekstrup gets in foul trouble. Sophie Glancy would definitely eat Obiazor's lunch.

Over on the NAU side the Moran sisters will have to stay out of foul trouble, Leia Beatty will need to take at least 8 threes and Taylor Feldman will have to take care of the ball and have a great effort against Trinity San Antonio.

Grand Canyon wins if they hit 10 threes, turn NAU over more than 15 times and manage to hang with the Jacks on the boards.

NAU wins if they out rebound Grand Canyon by 12, hold Trinity San Antonio to under 12 points, turn the ball over less than 12 times, and control the pace.

Both teams love to run but Molly Miller has a deeper bench and if both teams are flying up and down the court the pace favors the Lopes

My hope - a thrilling double overtime game.

My expectation - Lopes by 9.

After what seems like a long hiatus, finally got some games again today. Creighton beat St. John's handily. Indiana is crushing Wisconsin at the beginning of Q4.

WHY is Toledo playing an NAIA school? Defiance is apparently not very defiant, Rockets win 114-30.

I’m kinda surprised just how handily Creighton beat them. Either Creighton is better than had been thought or SJU is worse.

Happy Birthday Elle Ladine! She decided to celebrate in style, dropped 40 points on Northwestern. Only the 4th Washington Husky to ever do that in a game IIRC. I think the Dawgs led wire to wire, pulled away in the 2nd half. 90-71 for their first ever Big 10 road win.

Yeah, some lopsided games in the B1G today. Oregon vs. Illinois wasn't one of them though, Illini w/ a narrow 5 point win.

Washington St. off to a 2-0 start in WCC.

Portland vs. Santa Clara was close for a while. 31-13 3rd quarter put an end to that. Pilots cruised 81-54, still an unblemished record at 14-0.
