Hasnt the Gonzaga coach been sick (cancer?)? I’d assumed she’s been partially unavailable some of the last 6 months.
Maybe I’m wrong
You are correct. I'm not sure exactly when she was cleared to return to coaching duties.

Washington St. off to a 2-0 start in WCC.

Portland vs. Santa Clara was close for a while. 31-13 3rd quarter put an end to that. Pilots cruised 81-54, still an unblemished record at 14-0.
Coach Meeks has Portland playing well.

Terps stay undefeated beating MSU 72-66. The Terps play real good defense and they rebound the ball well.

.-.
Albany LEADS lsu at half 38-34
LSU has to be the weakest undefeated #6 ranked team in history. Struggling to beat teams that aren't that great. Things aren't clicking for them at all so far.

They needed to because they eeked that game out from what I watched today. Giving up 26 turnovers and losing double digit leads twice don't usually end up as a victory.

GREAT crowd here at Grand Canyon. Jacks well represented and electric atmosphere. TSA in the house for the Lopes.

Pre game shoot around was on point for NAU!

Must be close to 2000 in the house as Lopes and Jacks battle for bragging rights to Arizona

Tip in 5 minutes and you can watch on ESPN plus

After LSU took the lead in Q3, Albany regained the lead at 59-58.

Then LSU went on a 22-1 run to close it out.

The team 2 years ago probably had an even weaker sked. At least this year they beat NCSt.
Tho the close calls with Stanford and Washington were not inspiring.

The LSU-Tenn clash in 11 days will be interesting.

The schedule 2 years ago was definitely weaker but at least they were beating everyone easily. Washington and Stanford and Albany are not horrible teams like NC Central, but a top 10 team shouldn't be having to rally from behind to beat them, particularly at home.

Saylor started again and has another double double (14,10). Mir scored one point with two boards and Amari isn't in the box score.

Some pretty weird stats from the Iowa-Purdue game. Hawkeyes win easily 84-63. Only 1 player in double figures. How often do you see a team score 80+ and only 1 in double figures? But...5 players w/ 9 points. That's odd too.

At the half GCU 17 boards NAU 10. That says it all. Molly Miller unleashed her defensive dogs of war. The Jacks haven't faced any defense like this all year.

and

The Lopes punish NAU for their lack of interest in defenses.

Haven't done it in a while, but got my "somebody has to win" special of the day. 2-10 Seattle U. @ 0-11 Cal State Bakersfield. SU winless on the road and CSUB winless in any location. There's the old cliche about immovable object vs. irresistible force. This is not that. But someone will come away with a W.

Oklahoma is sleepwalking through their non-con match-up today! 31-26 halftime lead over 7-5 New Mexico State.

I need some guidance from @triaddukefan . On Sunday we have a stirring match up between Incarnate Word and Our Lady Of The Lake. No Methodists or Baptists or anybody else invited to this one, purely Catholic vs. Catholic. Surely we need to do a little more than just throwing out the record book for this.

I can't help you out there.... I only know about the Protestants

Is Our Lady of the Lake a D2 school??? I've never heard of them.

Based on the score, maybe D3. 104-37.

I think @Plebe actually knows something about them. I seem to recall seeing the name pop up in a score a year or two ago.

Yeah, I was scratching my head a lot looking at all the scores today. Never heard of a bunch of these schools.

Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) is an NAIA school in San Antonio.

Their athletics program is relatively new, started in 2007.

Nebraska hung in for a while, then got steamrolled by UCLA.

I think there have been a few injuries that dictated changes, but seems like Close keeps juggling the starting lineup even when she doesn't have to. A bit unusual for a team that is ranked #1, undefeated and has hardly been challenged so far.

Possibly an anecdotal day, but this is in accord with my sense that this has been one of the worst scheduled non-conference seasons in recent history. Maybe it's all the conference realignment causing the blue bloods to schedule conservatively and minimize travel (that's certainly the Stanford story), but the net effect is apart from a handful of awesome matchups, largely between UCLA/U$C/UConn/ND/Scar, even an ardent fan like me has barely bothered to tune in.

The lazy answer for the drop in ratings is the Caitlin Clark Effect, but I think the better answer is a lot of inexcusably uninteresting scheduling.

I see it as a long-term scheduling trend of a "race to the bottom". I'm convinced it's gotten worse every year for a number of years now. Most power conference programs are totally unmotivated to schedule tough nonconference games because they count on getting plenty of chances at quality wins in conference play.

The result is about 95% of the nonconference schedule is painfully boring.

I wish the WBB basketball committee would apply a scheduling bonus as they do in volleyball, where a team gets rewarded in the "adjusted RPI" if they play 50% of their nonconference schedule against teams in the top 75. This has been extremely effective in getting the top teams to schedule each other.
