In other news, both Miles and Suarez had triple doubles of 20+ points, 10+ assists and 10 rebounds against Arkansas Pine-bluff today. When was the last time two players from the same team had triple doubles in the same game?

Honestly, I've never been aware of it happening before. Somewhere, sometime in the entire history of basketball, it must have. But it has to be exceptionally rare.

Last season UT Arlington's players Koi Love (formerly of Vanderbilt, Arizona, USC) and Avery Brittingham both had triple doubles in the same game. They were first in USA WBB history as it has never happened in the WNBA.

Looking at the ESPN website with the scores from last night's games, I was struck by the scores. These games just are not competitive. It's not good for the long term growth of the sport in my opinion.

Geez, have you seen tonight's slate? Not much better. UConn-Marquette will probably be the most competitive top-25 game.

Yeah. And I love UCLA, TCU, and LSU. But it's mid December and some of these matchups aren't quite competitive. Makes me look forward to conference play a lot though. I've always been high on Marta Suarez but I'm interested to see how she matches up to some of the other 4s in the conference. They will play some real athletic 4s, I think it will help gauge if she is a true w prospect. Also is she really 6'3. I got duped into thinking Alisa Pili was 6'2 for years so I'm not budging. LSU also an interesting storyline heading into conference play as a unit. Seem to have a different vibe and a little to less expectations imo, but I don't know who they've played aside from Duke. Lastly UCLA did play Texas which was good. But they were behind much of the game and I kinda lost my faith in them being a dominant team. I still am not quite sure how many first round wnba draft picks they got, or eventually who their second best player is. Nevertheless they should be challenged a bit in the big ten.

If you want to see a competitive game, I recommend the High Point vs Davidson game at 7pm. Think it's on ESPN+. It's a must see game according to this lady. Panthers vs Wildcats.... The claws will be out and the fur will be flying in this one

What is it with these lists not having tomorrow’s South Carolina @ USF game on them?

This whole season has been like that largely. I can't remember a less interesting slate of OOC games overall.

A bit of have / have not being very obvious.

Folks on the BY (many of them long time UConn fans, I think) have long complained about the tendency of so many programs to schedule cupcakes, and it really has been that way for years. One year, not recently, I actually went and charted how many other Power conference games teams were playing - and there were plenty of ones or twos, only maybe 6 or 7 teams with more than 1 or 2 decent OOC games on their schedule, it was teams like UConn, Notre Dame, I think Rutgers at the time, Tennessee, Stanford, maybe Duke scheduling decently.

I could be wrong, but I think one factor could be more sacrificial lambs being willing to get trampled for money. Which is to say, the current batch of cupcakes is worse than the previous batch (who are filling in their schedule with non-D1 schools, probably). I could be wrong, but I strongly suspect something along these lines, as well as stronger teams playing more home games than previously. They always played more at home, but in this financial era, a lot of teams are staying home more.

On the other hand, I really felt there were some games of greater quality than in previous years, just not too many of them.

It's not just that though. There have been so many lopsided games not involving P4 teams. And there are way, way more games against D2, D3 and NAIA teams than I've ever seen before. I'm not sure when or how that became acceptable.

let the record show . That of the 19 division 1 playing schools in the state, with one I refuse to root for... Davidson now sits alone in 18th place on the list of NC schools that I can root for. They have done too much harm in recent years.
 
Hey that Loyola team UConn played was good enough to beat a big 10 team (Northwestern). 🤷‍♂️

Northwestern lost Grace Sullivan very early in this contest. Northwestern looked lost on offense after that.

If I tried I could probably still be mad at Davidson for beating Gonzaga in the men's Tourney many years ago. I think they had some kid named Curry. Showed a bit of potential.

Looks like things won't be competitive until 1/4/26 when LSU faces Vanderbilt and 1/11/26 when LSU plays Texas.

Also on 1/11/26, either Arizona State or TCU will lose its first game and undefeated Maryland will face Ohio State.
