Couple of swipes @ UMass & BC within:

-> Group of Five: Somebody needs to explain why UMass still sponsors an FBS program rather than devoting more resources to hockey, where they’re a national power, and a sport like basketball where they can make the NCAA tournament every now and then. UMass hasn’t won more than four games in a season since 2011 — really, 2011 — and hasn’t even sniffed a bowl game since moving up to the FBS in 2012. What’s the point of that? Some lower-resource schools chase the football dream because they believe it’s good for the image of the university, but it would be hard to identify what UMass gains from 42-6 and 47-7 spankings from Missouri and Iowa, respectively, the last two weeks. But they’ve also been blown out by Temple and Western Michigan with a loss to Bryant. <-

-> Bill O’Brien: The worst performance of the weekend has to be the Boston College’s 48-7 loss to a Pittsburgh team that was also not having a very good season. The margin of defeat was surprising given that Boston College had been competitive in its other games, albeit on the losing end against Michigan State in overtime, Stanford and Cal. This one smells like a frustrated team letting go of the rope a bit, and O’Brien was at a loss in his postgame news conference to identify the problem. “I’m not getting it done,” he said. This feels like one of those situations where teams should be able to trade coaches. If you could send O’Brien to North Carolina and bring his buddy Belichick to Boston College it would make a lot of sense for both sides. Alas, in both Hills — Chapel and Chestnut — the beatings will continue until morale improves for the former Patriots colleagues. <-

I wonder if the coach of Syracuse is still having them run win sprints at the end of the game?

The Syracuse Message Board was brutal on us after they stole the game from us. Watching their team fall apart at the seams since they beat us - and watch us get better and better - is sweet!

UMass is showing no signs of giving up. They are talking about "over investing" $25M into the stadium. Which won't result in improvement on the field any time soon.

The good news is that I don't think anyone in the MAC has a winning record. They could win a freak game or two and finish in the middle of the conference and go 2-10!

I think Harasymiak is a good coach and he will get things turned around there as much as they can be turned around (after 4 years, maybe middle of the MAC).

Not an ideal place to take your first FBS head coaching gig.

I bet he quits and leaves to become an analyst for the Browns before it comes to fruition. Bamford is a horrible boss.

At the beginning of the season if you had told me Oklahoma, Mizzou, Ole Miss and A&M would be the four undefeated teams from the SEC, I would have laughed. Playoff feels wide open this year

Mizzou s “toughest” game so far was home vs SC.
Their non conference was Central Ark, UMass, Louisiana, and Kansas.

Next week reality starts when they host Bama.
 
PennSt AND Tex fall out of top 25. I think a bit harsh for the Horns as Fla is a good team that had to face a tough schedule this far.
But it’ll be clear next week — win vs Okla and they’ll be ranked; lose and not.

As I said. Best Miami team in a decade. They are being touted as a playoff team. Will they finally win the ACC after 21 years? Odds are good but a 6 point win over FSU wasn’t awe inspiring. They have a better QB, a higher payroll. Yet, after all the FSU turnovers, they allowed a claw back. I think that the Canes are good, but we’ll see.

Tbf, they just joined the MAC. I'm not saying they'll be a powerhouse, but the consistent schedule and money from the conference will pay off I I see now reason they can't go 4-8 every year

I mean I thought we would win more than 3-4 games a year when we had that AAC money flowing in. Until they have the right leader, nothing is going to change.
