ISU's first true road game, and it had all the symptoms of it. Iowa jumped out in front 34-12 and sat on the lead the rest of the way. ISU's bigs were whistled out of the game early and were non-factors, Osunniyi getting 4 points and one rebound. ISU was outscored 15-5 at the foul line and was buried under a barrage of Iowa 3-pointers, 12 of 23, while making only 3 of 22 itself. Iowa played pretty much an iron-man rotation. three starters playing 36 minutes or more and the other two playing 30.
All that said, a 19-pt home court win is numerically less impressive than an 18-pt neutral court win, which UConn logged over ISU at the PK. Last night's result didn't seem to hurt UConn's KenPom SOS very much. Still, it's ammo for any who wish to belittle UConn's OOC victory string and makes this weekend's Alabama-Houston matchup a bit more interesting in that regard. A strongly competitive performance by Alabama would be nice.
