Week 4 preview (Nov. 29–Dec. 5)

Since when do we call Arizona State the Harvard of the West?
Since today,
Arizona St. scored 91?! I wonder what is the most points they've scored during the CTT era? That's gotta be close.
Since today.

The return of senior Jayde Van Hefty in her second game after a year plus rehab from knee injury led the Devils to this 91 points. Hefty has yet to miss a field goal since returning to the court 7-7 and yes what an offensive outburst.

1n 1997 the Sun Devils laid 118 points on Utah State. That was early in CTT's reign and since then she's obviously changed her philosophy.

Duke crushes Penn today 77-55. 9 players with double digit minutes, 2 with 9 minutes, and one with 7 minutes. All 12 scholarship players played and scored. Leading scorer was Day-Wilson with 14 points on 4-6 from long distance. Season low with 13 turnovers.

UVA wins over George Washington... Clemson with a hard fought victory over the Blue Hose.

I thought the elite coed HBCU was Howard?

Howard is without question the most complete, well known HBCU, and has the greatest endowment..... one could call it the elite HBCU. But Hampton still wins out on the uppitiness factor. :p:D (hopefully know one I know who attended Hampton reads this forum)

Arkansas a little slow out of the gate, but gets it going behind 32 pts from Makayla Daniels to beat Cal in Fayetteville, 84-67.

The game featured 3 technical fouls on Cal - one on a player for being disrespectful to a ref (this was a bad call, imo - it was just a dismissive wave), and two on the bench. The bench's first was for having 6 players on the court (oops), and the second was on an AC who ran 6 feet onto the court protesting a non-call (I think she was right, ftr - the shooter was fouled - but you can't run onto the court like that with impunity).

Weird game.

And on the topic of OU - one BIG factor in their improved play this year is that they are healthy. They have Lampkin and Llanusa going full speed, and between Llanusa, Williams, and Robertson, they have several very good, diverse offensive options. Teams just can't mob Robertson at the perimeter and get away with it. They are a really strong point guard away from being very good, imo. They are also doing this without Gabby Gregory, who hasn't played this year (not sure why ...?).

New Mexico comes storming back w/ a 28-10 Q4 to beat in state rival New Mexico St. 73-66.

When are teams gonna learn to not give her space out there!? Kudos to her.

USC loses at home to the mighty Dons of USF 78-63. That hiring of Gottlieb is looking like a genius move already.

2 teams in the Top 5 with 2 losses a piece?

Stanford has 2 Top 10 wins; but, also a losses to Texas (at home) and to South Florida (who you are missing, but was #13 in last week's AP poll).

Maryland has 2 losses to Top 10 teams (each by almost 20 points), and 1 win Top 10 win (Baylor at home).

Seems like you actually looked at a team's wins and losses!

Texas probably too high. Arizona could be higher (as they are undefeated). Where is South Florida? You can't rank Stanford that high if one of their losses is to a team you have unranked :p

I do think Texas is that good, plus they beat Stanford so they should be ahead of them and Texas A&M is also very good team they just beat easily, and Tennessee beat Texas so they should be ahead of Texas. South Florida just lost to someone really bad, and that is 3 losses so they are out for now, that doesn't meant it a worse loss for Stanford now. Arizona would be higher if they didn't almost get beat by Vanderbilt of all teams.

Well they pretty much just dominated #14 Iowa State leading for pretty much the entire game. Have another good win against Mo. State and the 1 loss to Florida Gulf Coast who probably won't be ranked anymore but still not a horrible loss.

I believe Stanford's better than most teams with fewer losses than they have and I think Maryland is probably as well when they are remotely healthy.

USF lost to UT Arlington. They were in my last poll, dropped out. What can you do?

Rae Burrell got up a few pre game shots yesterday. I am hoping she is back for the Stanford game.

When are teams gonna learn to not give her space out there!? Kudos to her.
In fairness, it's like Caitlin Clark. How tight do you play her without getting beat in a different manner?

She's a double-edged sword. And if you're not careful, she can sell fouls pretty well. Playing her tight can work against teams too.

I should probably rank Tennessee higher but I don’t think they’re better than the 9 teams above them who have (good/understandable) ranked losses. If they beat Stanford on 12/18 I’ll be convinced. I went back & forth about #25 with Ohio St., Gonzaga, Colorado & Nebraska.

I know it's your opinion but, in my opinion, no way is Tennessee a top 4 team. If they are then WCBB is way down this season. When Burrell comes back, they will be a much better team but not top 4.
