UConn received 2 votes in the latest poll and hope to use some good play down in Charleston for the Charleston Classic to boost that. Other than that there are many tournaments to watch and this will be a fun week of ball. Tonight looks a little bland and mundane but towards the end of the week as the tournaments unfold there should be some fun games. Tuesday looks to have a nice slate of games.

Tonight

SMU vs Evansville
-Evansville received 43 points in the latest poll. Let’s see how they fair against an AAC foe.

Missouri vs Wofford
-Missouri recently took Charleston Classic opponent Xavier to overtime in a low scoring match. Let’s see how they do against a decent Wofford team.

Overall not too many eye catching games but I’d keep an eye for close games that could yield big upsets.

I’d look for close games for WVU and OU who are playing some light competition tonight but UConn fans should root for a close game or loss because they are in front of us for votes

Kentucky escapes from Utah Valley in a game closer than the score suggested

Oklahoma defeated W&M at home 75-70

WVU beats Northern Colorado 69-61

SMU escapes Evansville 59-57 great game

Notre Dame surmounts Presbyterian by 10

Watched Illini vs Hawaii for a bit- Cofi was unimpressive but the Illini guards can shoot

Yeah but I’ll take 15pts and 14rebs any day but 6-15 on FGs is not great for a big. Apparently Ayo Dosunmu is supposed to be an NBA player next year but wasn’t impressed with him at all. Not impressed with Illinois at all though. Thought they were sloppy and relied on the size and athleticism advantage

Mizzou gets by Wofford 75-56. Wofford wore down once their big guy fouled out. Mizzou looks middle of the pack SEC, NIT. Their big guy Tilman is decent, team shooting is ok. No big time athletes relative to those of the top five or six conference teams.

Yep surprised they went to OT vs Xavier. We should be able to hold our own if we meet them after Buffalo

I watched the first half of that game. Evansville is very athletic for a MVC team, but they were having trouble with shot selection. SMU took advantage of easy turnovers and played to their strength in dominating the glass as they often bring four to the basket whenever a shot is taken.

The biggest weakness is that SMU has no real PG on their team, but their guard depth should get a boost once their waiver situation for Darius McNeill and Kendric Davis is figured out. McNeill transferred from Cal to be closer to his ailing mother, who lives in Houston. As a sophomore at Cal, McNeill averaged 11 ppg and 1.5 steals/game, but doesn't have any noticeable rebounding or assist numbers, but Davis is more of a pure point guard.

I find it odd that even though SMU put in their waiver requests over the summer, they haven't gotten any word yet on the status of Davis and McNeill.

Watched that UK game last night. Utah Valley came real close, the crowd seemed on edge the entire game. Kentucky looked bad.

Evansville is pretty good, McCarty has them playing some decent basketball.

UK is sloppy with the ball but hey "they're only freshman" ask Cal.

Illinois and Kofi - kids a monster and has potential to be pretty good. Wouldn't have hurt to have him he's an immovable object so he will rebound. Actually he's a little better than I pictured. They have a couple nice looking players but that game was an awful watch. It wasn't even because the defense was good on either side just sloppy as heck.

Did most of it without the 2 Hawaii bigs in there
In the 1st half when Hawaii had their starting five in there, Cofi looked lost and frustrated
Only watched the 1st half

Providence down 16-8 to Merrimack 10 minutes in has begun to fill court press. This team is playing its first season of D1 ball. Kind of embarrassing

Edit providence up 38-33 at Half

Northeastern put up 63 in the 1st half yikes

The ghost of Taylor Coppenrath? VT tied with VA under 8 to go.
If they had 1 other decent player besides Lamb they’d be a top 20 team, watching this game shows me his supporting cast is very iffy.

Rocket Watts the other night for MSU. Guess he’s off to a very rough start shooting tha ball. The announcers rattled off something like 6-28 overall after missing a 3. He’s fast as heck and physical too, big kid. We liked him as a recruit but he was always a MSU lean.

Vermont is tough, played Virginia real tough at their place.

Now, Northwestern was an epic embarrassment for the team, the school and the fans.

In regards to Northwestern has anyone ever heard of a team taking 40 more shots than the other team and losing? Seriously I never have. It took every single player without the last name Duke having a career bad game, The odds on that are astronomical as well but my Friars pulled it off.

Here is a 7 second sequence with PC down 3 with about 3 to go. Steal, missed layup, steal, missed layup, steal, missed 3 pointer, Northwestern rebound, foul, NW makes both FT's. Yep you read that right. All in 7 seconds of game time. Impressive in its ineptitude.

I honestly have not gotten over it. It was that bad. I'm sure we all have a mind numbing loss that you just can't quite let go of. This was mine after 40+ years of watching them.

Hurts to see Radford beat NW. Kinda how we felt when St. Joes happened

St.Joes is like losing to Duke compared PC’s loss to Northwestern. The only thing that will remotely even save us when seeding happens if we are fortunate enough to be selected for the NCAAT is that Nate Watson was hurt and didn’t play.

After 40+ years of watching PC a start of the season loss to Northwestern is the one you just can't get over???

That either doesn't say much for Friar basketball or you're being overly dramatic.

I'm not talking about losing, we have lost a lot. It's about expectations. Losing in the final 4 or elite 8 hurts for sure, losing in the BE final hurts for sure. But you are guaranteed to be losing to a very very good team. I and many of us Friars have very high expectations for this team and to lose to a horrific B1G team when you go something like 6 of 35 in the paint and most are layups, well that truly sucks. Listen, if we roll from here and then this is no big deal but we end up almost every year seeded 8th or worse and that just makes a run so much harder and it's mind numbing, life sucking, break my scilatoing TV, losses that cause it every year. It's a Cooley annual tradition.

I guess I should have said most po'd I have been, and I was. I worked hard to have my wife consider watching a PC game with me. That is shot now. :)

Northwestern is terrible

Tulane holding with Miss. St down 6 but should be closer. Tulane missed a open dunk on the fast break

Wahab looks really good for G-Town.
