As a kid heard that term watching Bugs Bunny cartoons.... never knew what it was though
Me too! Being a geek, I had to look it up.

Full geeky disclosure: In my pedantry, I forgot that the European hare actually is a rabbit.

BTW, just finished watching the Jacks and Devils. Very entertaining.

I also watched Indiana-Stanford, and I think you’ll enjoy having the Cardinal in the ACC.

And what is that TCU court supposed to be? Horned frog skin?

I keep hearing that Van Lith can't play PG...but she has 19 assists in the last 2 games. That's pretty good right?
Yea. I am not sure why folks said that about Hailey Van Lith. She is a decent PG. She played that position in high school and at Louisville. She is not the traditional point guard type, but the game has evolved so much over the years. Sure, we have the traditional PGs and now the scoring PGs but to me, Hailey Van Lith is a solid PG.

#5 UCLA at home vs Arkansas
If not for the cheerleaders, a librarian would be proud of the noise level in there

I’d be surprised if attendance >500
Box score says 2255
A) I’m skeptical
B) sad for a top 5 team

Yeah, that's not good. UCLA's mediocre volleyball team drew about that much the previous night (granted, they were playing Wisconsin).

I'm really concerned about UCLA's guard play. It hasn't been good so far and it could keep them from reaching their goals should it not improve. And then there's the coaching...

Wrapping up week 2, a few top 25 losses, however UNC and Louisville aren't bad as they lost to ranked teams. Not sure Indiana over Stanford is that much of a surprise. Same thought on TCU over NSCU. OSU and Belmont got my attention though.

I think for some, after seeing Indiana struggle and lose a game to Harvard, no one knew what to expect. Their win could be a sign that they're figuring thing out. The OSU-Belmont game now, I highly doubt most of us expected it to be that close.

TCU winning isn't much of a surprise either but I don't think NC State fans should be overly concerned. Mitchell Northam noted they're still trying to figure out their post/big situation which makes sense.

Week 2 musings.

As much as I overreacted to UCLA's unimpressive performances in week 1, I thought they looked good this past week. Barker had back to back double doubles. Last year it seemed like Dugalic forced a lot, she played pretty under control yesterday. Obviously they have the biggest of test this weekend.

Big shouts kate Dinnebier from Drake for scoring 40 on Iowa. Still Iowa showed out with Caitlin in the stands. Crazy thing is coach Jansen was like a freshman has surpassed O Grady..then the games started and she's been a monster.

Also big shouts Harvard's Harmoni Turner. 41 then 38. Im from the area. I randomly bought bc season tickets. I may need to get some Harvard tickets.

I'm a little worried about the injury bug for Notre Dame, they ended up playing 6 yesterday in a blowout. Hope they get healthy soon.

I thought Kansas State played really well in their matchup with Creighton. I know she's a super senior and may not be a W prospect but Ayoka Lee is probably a top ten post this decade. Overall I do think they are a better team than last year.

NC State and UNC kinda disappointed. Utsby and Donarkski really played poorly vs UConn. NC State seems like the team they were two years ago after the elite 8 loss.

What's strange is that Heiden isn't playing much and hasn't been very productive. Although they play different positions I've been more impressed with other Fr. Mallegni and Stremlow.

Wow, looking at their roster I'm surprised how many Sr. they have. Will be big losses 2 years in a row, next year is when Jansen's work really starts with keeping the program rolling. Olsen, Affolter, Feuerbach and O'Grady.

I was there. UCLA has, historically, not drawn well, but the attendance figures seemed accurate to me. We'll see if continued success translates into butts in the seats. As far as the noise... it was a blowout pretty early on, so most of the cheering was reserved for excellent or noteworthy plays. No need to chant "De-Fence!" when you are up by 32 at the half. That's just mean.

As far as the guards go, the Bruins were playing a freshman at point, Elina Aarnisalo, who looks GREAT for an unknown foreign player who isn't a true PG. Kiki Rice was in her first game back from injury, on restricted minutes, and didn't look healthy yet. Londynn Jones was wearing a mask after getting her face smashed against the floor in Tuesday's game, and couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Avary Cain wasn't in the building (I think she was sick). So, other than needing Leger-Walker back from injury, I don't really think the Bruins are in too much backcourt trouble in the long term. Might not look great against South Carolina on Sunday, though. Hard to say where those injuries will be.

Kitties drive up the hill to play NAU Lumberjacks at 6:00 p.m. this evening at Rolle activity center. Looking forward to the game, the last time the kitties were up here the game was held in the skydome, if memory serves correct the score was 21 nothing at the end of the first quarter.

As I've said before coach Barnes is to be saluted for supporting NAU women's basketball and bringing her troops up here. I'm wondering if they got up this morning and drove up on one of their luxury Kitty buses and are planning to drive back down after the game tonight. If so that's quite a long day and another reason to salute the kitties.
