I thought this was supposed to be Stuelke's break out year, but so far it's been O'Grady.
True, but it's a great problem for Iowa to have. They now have a standard post and a mobile post. The team does a great job feeding O'Grady and she really uses her body well to get position. O'Grady really improved!

Olsen working out well as CC light. She may well avg 20 5 & 5.

Fun team to watch.

#5 UCLA at home vs Arkansas
If not for the cheerleaders, a librarian would be proud of the noise level in there

I’d be surprised if attendance >500
Lol. Its been a good first quarter though. Gardener is showing out though (5 3s in 1 quarter). Kiki Rice is back. Ucla is pretty close to being healthy and at least should be getting nearer to establishing a core rotation. Gardener being used as strictly a 3 point shooter also kinda kills my soul but she has a beautiful shot

That's why I'm feeling blue. UW looked like a middle school team.

Yeah, no Cheerwine out here. I could go for a grape nehi, but we don't have those either. Do you?

Watching Laila Phelia not get minutes is hurting my soul
Really? There was so much buzz about her being a big addition to this roster. Will be something to monitor as this is her final season of eligibility.

I fully expected Hannah's ppg to go down this year since the lane is no longer entirely hers to operate in (unlike last year). She's still impacting the game as much as last year even if it's in different ways. Her athleticism is a critical asset that complements others on the roster.

Right now these losses are ugly, but Rueck has proven he can coach up. His team will improve, and with the steps backward taken by both Gonzaga and WSU from last season, the WCC is up for grabs.
Could be. I expect Gonzaga will improve as the season goes on also.

Pretty sure the WCC is going to be a 1 bid league this year, so everything will come down to the conference tourney in Vegas. As we've seen recently, never count out Portland in that event.

  • Rabbit Stew

  • Cut rabbit into pieces. Layer onion, potatoes, and carrots in bottom of a crock pot.
  • Add spices to the pot.
  • Add rabbit, salt, pepper, consommé, and about 3/4 cup beef broth.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 hours. Thicken gravy as desired.
Jackrabbits are actually hares, although this would qualify as a recipe for hasenpfeffer. ;)

Yes.... haven't had one in years though

As a kid heard that term watching Bugs Bunny cartoons.... never knew what it was though

(shhhh, Dr Pepper is a reasonable facsimile)

& from Wikipedia:
"Other spots to find Cheerwine are the many "specialty soda" stores throughout the country, as well as WinCo Foods in Washington state"

A bit of a non-sequitur, but love WinCo. When I lived in CA it was the only place I ever went to for groceries. Employee owned, the place is always clean and well kept, and the prices are very good. Loved the bulk food selection, especially for snacks. Any time I’m back on the west coast I always take advantage of it.

Isn't she just coming back from injury?
Yes I think you're right. Also she did end up playing a lot after sitting the whole first quarter. I get (kinda) starting Shay Holle but I was just surprised she wasn't getting off the bench in the first so I overreacted. 30 point won for Texas, scored 91 points without making a 3.

I believe Phelia started in the exhibition game and Holle came off the bench. I'm sure both will get plenty of time but Phelia is very likely the starter once fully healthy.

I will briefly interrupt the wonderful culinary conversation to point out UCLA destroyed Arkansas. I think everybody from the Bruins had a double double today. Okay not really but at least 3. It was also career high day. 7 3's for Gardiner, 18 points for Dugalic, and 11 assists for Aarnisalo.

edit--20/12 for Betts, 18/15 for Dugalic and 17/12 for Barker

ha yes I figured. I'm not saying they're the same, but they are at least in the same neighborhood of flavors, along with Cherry Coke and Mr Pibb, if those still exist

So does Adair get an extension with a dominant win over perennial power Oregon State?
They all will be won't they?

Wow..... There's no words for what the Beavers laid out there in Tempe.

Wow. They made the Sun Devils actually look like a team could win three conference games in the WCC.

Wow......

No one I feel worse for in WCBB right now than Scott Rueck. He got completely hosed by realignment. And speaking of realignment, what does it say that it took me like 2 minutes to find the ASU-OSU box score on ESPN.com because for the life of me I could not remember what conference either team was in... :D
I think it's best we all forget which conference both those teams are in.
