Week 2 NCAA Football

I had flashbacks reading about this game. UConn had to win their game in South Bend three times.
That was horrifying and ultimately satisfying. But you’re right…wow. I forgot how awful the refs were .

Bad loss for Kansas. Too many mistakes throughout and then Illinois dominated the 4th quarter.

The targeting rule is such crap but I hope Bama gets screwed here, oh who the hell am I kidding.

The call was correct, but the rule is dumb. I understand they're trying to protect the players, but it is what it is.

There just needs to be a bit of common sense with the rule, a full on launching into the helmet ok, your tackling guys going full speed.

Houston keeping it close but playing it a little too conservative. They have to take some chances to win this game. Taking a deliberate delay of game to give themselves a better punt on 4th and 4 from the Sooners' 43 was a mistake.

.-.
USF got within 5 but then a nice 40-yard TD reception where USF's defenders whiffed in their coverage.

And just now 56 yard TD run by Bama. Game over now.

Boise State up on Oregon at half 20-14. Boise defense sacked Oregon QB 4 times in the first half.

Boise QB is really good. He puts the throws right on the money.

You love to see it.

USF is such a weird football program. They never sell out games, their stadium has zero energy, they have seasons that they are just as bad as we have been yet recover and can take on a Bama, FL State etc etc. Building an on-campus stadium with their resurgence is the absolutely the right move... its a Big12 time move. CT fans would be kicking and screaming about traffic... granted they are in a city anwyays.
part of me thinks they still live off of one of those couple of seasons in 07 or 08 where they got up to like #2 in the country

It's easy to figure out, really.

By my count on their official roster, they have 81 players from Florida. They have an easier time telling mid-range talent from that state to just "stay home" and play for them. This means they can be relatively competitive, even if they are the 4th / 5th best option in Florida.

It's not much more complicated than that...
