I think 3 Ivy League teams is too many. Princeton losing tonight is perfect; and it should give the committee the excuse they need to exclude them from the tournament.
But they lost to Harvard, which is not really a bad loss.

Conferences aren't assigned numbers of bids based on proportional representation. Each resume is individual, and it just so happens this year that the Ivy has 3 teams that are extremely close to the cut line (although one of them will of course be the AQ).

I agree Princeton's resume isn't great, but the bubble is weak. Who is the team that should get in over them? Virginia Tech? James Madison? Minnesota? UNLV? Those resumes are not great either. It'll be a close call.

Va Tech in over Princeton for me. Princeton has no good non conference wins. Neither does Va Tech; but they benefit from their conference. They beat Cal, Louisville, and won at Georgia Tech.

And sorry. As a big east watcher. I don’t like the idea of 3 Ivy League teams making it while only two big east teams make it.

And I remember last year. Last year. I really liked Columbia; I thought they were a good team. And I campaigned online for their inclusion. And what did they do? Got swept aside easily by Vanderbilt in the play-in game. So, I am not falling for it this year.

There's no way that the Ivy League is a superior conference to the A-10 or the Big East, let alone a P4. Three bids for an 8-team conference that isn't even the top mid-major conference is pure insanity. If it comes to that, then we may need to consider shrinking the field back down to 64 or even smaller. I'm not up for watching terrible basketball under the guise that it is "competitive". Harmoni Turner is the ONLY player that I care about seeing from that conference. At least last year's version of the Ivy League had Chen (my fave from that conference), Hsu, AND Turner.

I don't know who is clamoring to see that many Ivy League teams given their history. Last year's Columbia team proved that they didn't belong by getting lambasted by a very average Vanderbilt team. This was after their mouthy coach begged for their inclusion and had a lot of unsavory things to say about the SEC and ACC (the good sis Shea Ralph made her eat those words).

May I answer?

Good point here about the field. The foolish ncaa wants to expand the field. This year has a very weak bubble for both the men’s and women’s tournaments. It is not an argument for tournament expansion.

I'm glad you mentioned the men's bubble! It's so terrible!

So if Virginia Tech gets in and loses the play-in game will you regret that as well?

But they also lost to Syracuse, Virginia, and Boston College. So not only did Virginia Tech do nothing in the nonconference but they offset every one of their good wins with a bad loss.

And Princeton also benefited from its conference. They picked up two wins over Harvard, one of which is Quad 1, which is as many as Virginia Tech got.

It'll be a close call but you won't catch me rooting for the evil ACC to get a bid over any mid-major, ever.

My Camels advance to its first ever CAA championship game in its 2nd year in the conference. Looking for its 2nd ever NCAA tournament appearance, only other one came in 2000. In recent years they have faltered in title games, I think this is the year my Camels get over the hump. Standing in the way is a red hot William and Mary squad that is seeking its first ever post season appearance.

Tears are flowing all the way from DC to Buies Creek. My Camels failed again to get over the hump blowing a 4th quarter lead to fall to William and Mary 66-63. :( William and Mary singled handily ruined my WBB hopes and dreams this weekend.:(

Yeah, Campbell let a lot of people down. Thanks to them a team w/ a losing record is going to the Tourney. Never trust a camel I guess.

William & Mary's miracle run likely earns them a trip to Columbia SC against UNCG or High Point.
