Week 17 - Feb 23 to Mar 1

There it is. Tennessee's losing streak runs to 6 to end the regular season, and they have lost 10 of 12. They should be about an 11 seed, but I know that's not what's gonna happen. In the play-in game too.
Charlie Crème still has them as a 7 seed! 😐

I put myself out there for Tennessee; and this is how they repay me? Probably handed Blakes player of the year too. 🤦‍♂️

Likely based on their NET. I don't think that any of these bracketologists know how to use all the metrics, so they rely heavily on the only one they somewhat understand.

I’m watching the Vandy/Lady Vols matchup and heard Carolyn Peck say Madison Booker plays for Tennessee. Her colleague didn’t correct her either.

Her colleague said Blakes and the Pauldo twins were from "the New Jersey area." They are, in fact, from New Jersey.

I think an overlooked footnote in Blake’s game is her passing. Galvan is the floor general but I’ll take 4.6 assists/game from true PGs at most programs in the country.
She made a pass in today's game that just had my head spinning!

.-.
I'm sure Stanford has dropped off everyone's radar here, but it was fun being there to see them blow out Clemson 85-50 on Senior Day. Leaves me with hope for next year. Maybe the good vibes will keep players out of the portal.

Wow

I posted this in the Tenn thread - Charlie Creme just saying something like, Tenn still deserves a #7 seed for keeping it close or playing competitive or something random vs Vandy. Me? I'm thinking, that's a six game losing streak at the end of the season, when IMHO, the committee should be looking at what teams are finishing strong. Still not buying the SEC is SO strong, etc, etc, when I'm looking at a 8-8 and 16-12 record, the latter wins of which were vs East Tennessee State, UT Martin, Belmont, Middle Tennessee, Coppin State, Winthrop, and Southern Indiana. And no, I am not disparaging those programs.

Blakes and Galvan 40 minutes each

Meanwhile Latham prawl Mya hurst played 37 minutes and contributed 1 pt on 0-5 shooting with 4 reb 1 asst 1 TO 3 fouls.

NC State secured the #4 seed in next week's ACCT with an absolute blitzkrieg of a performance, beating beleagured Pitt, 93-43. All 10 Wolfpack Women scored, shooting 50% for the game, 10 of 19 from THREE, forcing 21 turnovers, garnering 17 steals and a 46-32 edge on the glass.

Khamil Pierre notched her 20th double-double of the season with 16 points/12 boards, one of 4 Wolfpack Women to reach double figures. Zoe Brooks led all scorers with 20 points on an efficient 8 of 11 from the field.

It's the first 50-point win against an ACC opponent for NC State since 1980.

Wisconsin played Iowa tough for a half, then got blown out. Iowa finishes tied w/ Michigan for 2nd place in the B1G.

What happened to Texas A&M at the end of the season? They suddenly don't stink anymore. Upset Ole Miss on the road. Also beat Mississippi St. and Tennessee.

Speaking of Mississippi St., they led early but are down 13 to LSU at the half. If they lose, they will drop to 5-11 in the SEC. How are they on the bubble? How?

Louisville is playing for a share of the conference title and a top 2 seed. Not really playing like it right now. Getting blown out by the fighting Irish.

how? The bubble is too big .

The perception of a strong conference beating each other up being better than teams out there playing solid hoop is too hard to overcome, Even for those that cannot get the premier teams to schedule them. And a confession - when teams with suspect records make it in, I usually pick the upset and will root for the underdogs, just because.

I realize the bubble is big and soft, but losing 2/3 of your conference games should be an automatic disqualifier, regardless of conference, regardless of strength of schedule, NET, Quad 1 and 2 wins, anything. You lose that many conference games, you don't deserve it.

Texas Tech finishing off Arizona St. Will be 12-6 in the Big 12. This is essentially the same team that went 4-14 last year. I know Molly Miller is a feel good story with turning around ASU instantly, but I think Gerlich should be Big 12 COY.

Oh my. Washington leads Oregon 7-3 midway thru Q1. Last time they played it was 51-43. Put everything, including your house, on the two teams combining for less than 100 points.*

*don't actually bet your house, or anything of value, on any game; I do not condone sports betting

We've got a pair of "somebody has to win" specials going on right now--Purdue @ Northwestern and UCF @ Houston.
Not that anyone is even slightly interested, but Purdue and UCF notched wins in these hotly contested games.
