Week 15 - Feb 9 to 15

About Duke. I am impressed with Duke. They have turned their season around and maybe will be as high as a two seed in the NCAA tournament. But! And there is a but. What if the ACC is just not very good and they are feasting on weak competition? Don’t forget how bad the ACC performed in the non conference this year.

.-.
Well Tennessee actually had a close game against a good team, so I take back some of the mean things I said about them.
Maybe…. it seems like Texas has trouble scoring points against better competition. It’s been that way for a long time. I just think it means that Texas is more likely to be in a close game than many other teams. I will say this… I don’t understand what passes for refereeing in the SEC. Cooper’s last score clearly looked to be an offensive foul. She lowered her shoulder and knocked Harmon over.

I hate to say it but Duke is a very good team. I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat any of the teams outside of UCONN, SC, UCLA.

Yeah, I keep thinking about Duke and their disastrous OOC and how down the ACC appears to be, and wondering why people are getting so hyped about them? Is the ACC really much better than the Big 12?

There were some questionable fouls against Tennessee, but not as bad as VolNation says it was. Cooper's last play was a foul that was not called. I knew when they drew up the last play, it would be Cooper with the final shot, and I could smell a turnover. It's what she does. I think I would have chosen Barker to shoot it.

Volnation always blames it on fouls when they lose

Uuuummmm….Barker was on the bench having fouled out.

I've watched Harmon flop a lot, if I'm seeing it the refs are too. If she didn't have that rep, she might have gotten the call.

.-.
She scored almost 1/2 the team's points and was one of just 3 players left who scored more than 2 points. Who would've been better?
It’s more the point that it’s easier to collapse on a player when you know they’re the only one likely to get the ball. The Vols offense is suspect, though.

I think I'm gonna start up the fire Langley chants again. Washington opens up the game 13-1 against Oregon. Leading 22-9 thru Q1. And then...gets outscored 19-5 in Q2. This happens almost every game. They have a quarter where they just fall apart. Something she's doing as a coach is not working. I'm tired of it.

I guess the good news is if UW loses today, they will finally be out of the polls, for the rest of the season. Unless they somehow beat UCLA on the road. But the chances of that happening are very close to nil.

Hey my team isn't the only one that falls apart. After having a halftime lead @ TCU, West Virginia has been outscored 20-2 so far in Q3. Oops.

Well Washington pulled out an ugly 51-43 win. Last year they struggled thru most of the season, then got hot at the end. This year they were going along fairly nicely, but have really gone downhill nearing the end. The bubble is so soft I don't think there's any chance they miss the Tourney, but I'm pretty much expecting one and done.

.-.
Sorry to disappoint you.
29 points in 3 quarters after scoring 22 in the opening frame is not good. They won. Only because Oregon was incompetent offensively as well. All season long, they have at least one bad quarter almost every game. Get big leads and can't hold them. Turn the ball over way too much. The record looks okay on the surface, but the team has some major issues. From what I've seen in almost 5 seasons now, they'll never be more than mediocre under Langley. That's better than truly bad under Wynn, but I dare to dream of something better than mediocre. Call me crazy.
