Happy Monday folks. Hope all y'all are continuing to keep warm. According to friends, this has been the longest cold spell in FL in 15 years. I'm just thankful that our HVAC system went kaput the first week of January, and not now or in the middle of the summer. Once I saw @Centerstream post the AP poll thread, knew it was a matter of time before ESPN updated their rankings. If my math is correct, there are 13 matchups of either t25 teams, t25 team vs ORV (others receiving votes), or ORV vs ORV.

And as always this time of year, a fast follow of the top 8 conferences per Warren Nolan NET as of this morning. Teams shaded in color have most disparity between conference and overall records (3 or more spots differential). The ACC wins again this week with the most disparity. There are a lot of teams within 2 spots right now. A lot still to shake out, however I like looking at the conf vs overall records to see who shot out of the gate early, dependent on quality of opponents, and who is now going thru the gauntlet of conf play.

NC State shot 37 FT combined in wins against Virginia and Boston College but only attempted 2 FT in Monday's loss to UNC. Just a terrible second half for NC State. Very disappointing, especially after NC State surged to a 9-point lead midway through Q2. I hate losing to UNC anytime in anything, but to know Courtney Banghart's team outplayed mine just upsets the stomach. But the Heels played like the better team Monday night.

Heck Zoe shot 32 by herself the last 2 games and had shot 48 over the last 4 and she was the only player to get to the line against UNC (2 attempts).

The refs let both teams play. UNC shot 14 but I believe 6 happened at the end of the game when State was fouling on purpose. So really 8-2 differential.

UNC played tough defense. That 3-2 zone really puzzled State and the Pack settled for jumpers and fade aways. UNC played like the hungrier team, they ran better offense and got better shots. I love Wes Moore but this wasn’t a good game. Being stifled by that zone is disappointing.

Definitely one that stings because you walk away and feel like UNC is pretty much who you thought they were but yet they won. It’s a feeling that’s all too common this year, leaving a game feeling like you could’ve or should’ve won yet you didn’t.

I thought State was playing their best earlier this year when Zam was on the ball more and Zoe off. Zam was looking to drive and dish and create for others. When Zoe is on the ball she’s looking to score. State needs someone to distribute and set others up.

Wow. Richmond is pounding St. Louis 72-27 nearing end of Q3. SLU isn't even close to a bottom feeder in the A-10, wouldn't expect to see a score like this.

Richmond was preaseason top 25. Now they’re in 3rd in the A10. Gotta build up the resume in case they don’t win the CCG, and hope they can get an at large.

When I saw that come across my timeline, I was hoping that no one from the BY saw it. 😞 😫 But alas, ..

#3 for us can get a bit chippy at times, and I'm 99% sure that she had been yapping at some (many?) part of the game to illicit that reaction. I watched the last few minutes and the announcer said that there had been 2 technicals earlier in the game. #25 for Winthrop was ejected, and two other players got ejected for leaving the bench. #25 for High Point got ejected as well, not sure what she did. Thankfully no one from HPU left the bench. Unsurprisingly there was no post game handshake line.

I looked at the box score, and #3 received one of the technicals earlier in the game.
 
Geez, George Mason and Richmond play tonight too; 6 PM on ESPN+ I got a note from Verizon yesterday saying my cable subscription new includes that, so I might have to try it.

I often have two cats on my lap. I guess one could watch the TV and one the tablet if I have both going. One could scratch my hand if there’s a good play on that medium.
 
My thoughts on tonight's Duke/Louisville game? I just hope we don't collapse in the third quarter because Looavull can sure pour it on in the second half of games. They're the home team, so I think they should win tonight.
