Week 13 - Jan 29 to Feb 4

Mad at USC for blowing up the PAC-12.
Happy that USC is relevant in women's basketball again.
Ecstatic that in two months there will no longer be such a thing as PAC-12 referees.

Road teams (all ranked) went 4-0 in the Pac 12 on Friday.
Lots of good performances. Happy for the road teams as each of them had been struggling in their own way, so it's good to see.

Im really happy for USC. They seem like a team that should host that first weekend. But they had lost a lot. They have a pretty good formula. Be great defensively, and let Juju score and Forbes follow up after her. They are both pretty big wings that can create their own shot. So they may lose if they miss but idk, it's not like u can take the team out of their game plan. Quick note on Stanford. At the end of the day their two best players took a bill of the shots and just missed. They did get doubled up on 3s and they probably should've taken the ball out of Jujus hands but idk, I feel like they are still a really good team

I caught Utah and Washington. Utah looked really good. Pili has been a bit hit or miss the past 6 or 7 games but she was pretty dominant against a relatively small Washington team. I like Washington though, they have a lot of guards who can create their own shot on the perimeter. There did seem to be a bit of trash talk a la Sonia Rivers v Hailey Van Lith in the tournament last year, between Pili and Daniels in the handshake line. Ironically they play each other again on what most likely is Pilis senior night.

I didn't watch but glad to see Osbourne drop 30+. I think the sad part about UCLA, is that their shooting from earlier in the season has kinda come back to normal levels. But regardless it's good that their 5th year senior kinda exploded. Hope she ends the season strong and reemerges on some wnba draft boards.

Lastly I stan Frida Foreman. Good win by Colorado. Good showing by Washington State. I like that wallack had 19 . Always thought she could score more if she wanted to.

Watkins took all their fts and she almost matched the scoring of the Stanford team. That's promising for USC that the rest of the team can take a night off and they can still win. I have to see this game.

For fans of the Big East, today's FloHoops Seton Hall at Villanova game at 2PM will be streamed live on YouTube.
Obviously neither team is ranked but enter the game with identical season records: 13-8.

I can understand why everybody was cooling off on Watkins, but this rockets her back into the conversation for FOTY and 1st Team All American. Huge game in a road win against conference leading Stanford.

Looks like she's been on a mission this past week, per this quote from the article linked below.

"STANFORD, Calif. -- On Sunday night, USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb got a call from a security guard asking whether to kick freshman guard JuJu Watkins out of the gym. Watkins was getting shots up following an off-night in the Trojans' crushing three-point loss at home to Washington, their third defeat in four games.

"No," Gottlieb told the security guard. "Let Ju be Ju.""

Cleveland St. beat Green Bay and moved 1/2 game ahead of them into first place in the Horizon.

Ball St. remained undefeated in conference, Fairfield well on their way to doing the same, up 30 in the 4th quarter.

Nebraska is trying to pull an Iowa St., trailing Rutgers in the 4th quarter.

edit--RU is winless in conference so far but looking to change that

Not only winless but the lowest rated P5 team in the Massey rankings. Sad

Marq averted complete collapse by overcoming a 7 pt 4th quarter deficit to beat providence 66-62.

How many bids will the Big East get this year? After UConn and Creighton it gets sketchy. Marquette has faded. Seton Hall is below .500 in conference. 3rd and 4th place currently is St. Johns and Villanova, not sure either is at large worthy. Marquette could still be in at this point but they should be higher than 5th in the conference.

Nebraska snatches away from Iowa State the trophy for worst loss of the day by a projected tournament team.

I didn't realize it was in Lincoln. Okay Nebraska, I'd say that loss is every bit as bad as Washington losing at home to Arizona St. (and don't anybody quote me NET rankings, I don't care).
