Thursday on the road - how do the Az schools fare? Fingers crossed for .500 with a not insignificant chance of losses across the board.
All four games can be enjoyed on ESPN Plus. Additional thoughts to those posted over on the Big 12 thread linked below.
Lopes have a real challenge at Abilene Christian in their effort to extend their winning streak to 14 games. While there's no doubt Molly Miller will have the squad ready this is clearly the biggest challenge since the last time the Lopes lost in November to the quackers from Oregon. This game is going to feature two very accomplished guards in Olympian Trinity San Antonio and for the Texas squad sophomore Peyton Hall. If Hall performs like she did in a big victory over the wandering Lobos of New Mexico AC has a real chance at home. Abilene is undefeated at home in December and so far in January. The Lopes average 78 a game while AC averages 73. Both teams can play defense and I'm going to expect a low scoring game and the Lopes to eke out the only Arizona road game victory today.
This is the featured Arizona road game with a tip at 5pm.
The Jacks visit the Hornets and try to shake off their loss at home to Montana State which dropped them to second in the conference. Sac State returns home after a 1 and 3 stretch of road games their only victory two points at Portland State in OT. While NAU is heavily favored this is a trap game and I'm looking for the hornets to be ready to sting.
7:30 p.m. so the east coasters will be in Dreamland as Loree Payne tries to keep the team on schedule.
The P4 Arizona schools head to the Sunflower State where there ain't no roses at least if you're a kittie fan and or a supporter of the nice coach from Delaware. What's of interest here is the MOV..... Can Barnes keep the loss under 20? The only question for the Sun Devils will be the ability of Ice Brown to play and whether or not she and Ty Skinner will get 60 shots. KU,, loser of three out of their last four, at home should have a wonderful opportunity to get the W. Oddly enough I think the three ball decides this game. We know that 6'7'' post Kennedy Bascum with ASU likes to launch a few but if KU hits their threes they win.
Doesn't matter what time these games tip on ESPN plus neither will be watchable unless you're a masochist. Or curious if Barnes can finally get her message across and have the players play. But we know kitties have a mind of their own.
For what it's worth Massey has the Lopes by three and the Jacks by seven.
The kitties and Devils are double-digit dogs 14 and 11 respectively.
