Who is playing PG for LSU? Freshman ZaKiya Johnson started tonight but had 0 assists. Fulwiley, just like in the exhibition game, came off the bench again tonight. I know it's just one game, but not understanding why Fulwiley chose LSU to not be a starter; maybe she got beat out by a true freshman which has to sting.

Jada Richard has been starting PG but Fulwiley is the one really getting the starting minutes and I wouldn't be surprised if Fulwiley is starting when we play meaningful games. Right now, Mulkey is just trying different lineups. Richard looked exactly like what Kim wants in a PG in the exhibitions but has not looked good in the 2 regular season games.Who is playing PG for LSU? Zakiyah is essentially playing 4 and I get it. She plays like Morrow with guard skills. Same intensity, needs to get better at finishing in traffic but doubt she will.

We went from a darkhorse Final 4 pick to the laughing stock of WCBB in a 40 minute span. 😞
My Devils stunk up the joint on foreign soil My Spartans got mollywooped twice in The Bay... My Aggies got dog walked twice in Texas... What a week.
Needed something to wash the bad taste of Monday outta my mouth... Red Bull, oatmeal cream pies and Arby's hasn't worked. Gonna have to try some Reisling, duck, ribeye steak, collard greens and Reese's peanut butter cups this weekend. If that doesn't work.... Then God Help Us All (at least me)

J Richard plays hard but I’m not convinced she has the ability to be a starter at the SEC level. Ideally M Fulwiley would fill the starter role. However she has to learn to control the pace of the game instead of her normal bull in a china shop style. I’ll give her credit last night that she seemed to be looking to pass more.
As an aside LSU’s freshmen are extremely talented and play with intensity. Their defensive pressure when that second group entered was fun to watch.
I think mulkey is letting Jada have her opportunity but zero doubt come SEC play Fulwiley will start.
I do like LSUs freshmen class a lot. It’s definitely kims best class in a long time.

My only quibble is that the real Kim Mulkey would be all smiles about facing off against the cupcakes of the far right column.

I recall Jada Richard being the only class of 2024 which Mulkey signed. So, with her being a sophomore but not playing much last season, now competing with junior Fulwiley and senior Kailyn Gilbert for playing time just made me assume we wouldn't see much of her to start this season. Isn't Zakiya supposed to be a point guard, or am I confusing her skill set? Regardless, Richard also has to compete with freshman SG Bella Hines who appears to have had a good shooting game from beyond the arc last night.
Probably because if she faces any decent teams she would lose majority of games since she isn’t a great coach

Richard is better than folks on here give her credit for and she's Kim's prototypical PG, intense, aggressive, pass first but not afraid to go score if she needs to. What I've seen these first 2 games seems like the pressure of Fulwiley behind her. She's pressed and been out of sorts because of it. I don't see her keeping the starting spot once competition picks up, but I don't think its a bad idea from Mulkey right now with the way they are testing lineups to see her with the 1's as they're going to need her this year and next year, she's probably the starting PG and Fulwiley move to the 2 with Flau'jae gone. I don't see Gilbert ever starting at PG. Too erractic, still won't make the obvious pass much of the time, BUT what she can do off the bench in spots at the 1 and 2 when teams wear down can change games.
From what I've seen of Zakiyah's HS tape, she played all 5 positions and from what I've seen so far, she's probably a 2/3 at this level but I've seen her rebound the ball, run the break and take it coast to coast. Kim said she was so good, she had to find a spot to get her on the floor with all the guards we have so she's at 4 and she's starting over Knox and she looks good. Bella is really interesting, I don't think she's a PG but I want to see her against good comp because if she can do what she's been doing, she's not just points, she could be a defensive menace in the future taking charges, deflections, etc.
All 5 freshman have shown really bright spots, Kim even let them finish the first game on the floor together and they seemed to understand playing with each other really well.

Week 1 coming to a close and what a week of fun and exciting games!! Gearing up to watch the Lady Vols bounce back, hopefully. Catch a little of South Carolina and their match up, followed by Texas/Richmond, and that Ole Miss/Alabama A&M matchup.

I think Kim’s scheduling is the worst in all of ncaa. But imma give her a pass on south eastern because this game has been on schedule for a while (seems like they always play every year) and SE is typically a solid team and even had a NCAAT appearance in recent years.
If I’m not mistaken the entire roster and coaching turned over this offseason. But I’m not sure the specifics on it
