No Okananwa for Duke either who would’ve been a starter and likely a go to scorer.Honestly, I think it was more about Baylor than about Duke. Not that Baylor looked amazing but they are a quality team with good rotation players. I was impressed with their freshman and their bigs.
On the Duke side, I think it hurt that they didn't have their freshman. I thought Fournier looked bigger than she was last year but Baylor matched up with her well. Riley Nelson hopefully got her first game jitters out. Im really not surprised with the result. Basically the same Duke team from last year minus Richardson vs a good Baylor team should be a pick em.
Wow, saw it was close going down to the wire. They lost most of their remaining talent from last year, it's pretty much down to Eleanora Villa (she's a baller) and a bunch of unknowns.Wazzu loses to Idaho St. Those exiled PAC schools have fallen off the map. surprised their coach hasnt moved on and up
She is, but 9 of 27 from the field is not a model of efficiency.First time watching Mikalya Blakes as she is helping Vandy pull away from Cal. She is pretty impressive.
I'm unsure of what to make of efficiency in WCBB. Some players are so clearly the star of their teams that they can be called on to make something happen on offense when no one else can ... which will lower efficiency but I'm not sure is the player's fault. She is, but 9 of 27 from the field is not a model of efficiency.
I should have explained that I started watching the game in the 3rd quarter and a two point game. She helped Vandy go on a double digit spurt that helped decide the Vandy win.She is, but 9 of 27 from the field is not a model of efficiency.
Thought it was a combo in my opinion. Baylor's interior defence did a great job on Fournier and Woods. Duke had their moments defensively as well with Donovan causing several turnovers and Woods having 6 solo blocks. The FG% for both teams was around 30%.
Looking in on this game. Belmont made it a two point game near the end of the 3rd quarter. Chavez is having a good game and she looks like she is ready for the college game with 12 points scored early in the 4th.One game I'd like to see is Oklahoma v Belmont at 5:30, but not sure we get SEC+. It will be interesting to see Chavez play at the college level.
Sure, ignore the fact I said it was a combination of both. Atrocious shooting aside, keeping Fournier to 5/15 in the paint when she typically has a field day is good defence. Both teams created turnovers through drawing offensive charges, shot clock and 5 second violations. Baylor won the battle on the boards, especially on the defensive side. Snark away. I stand by my opinion.![]()
yeah, good defense was what caused the atrocious shooting....I saw far too many open shots miss iron altogether or hit the front of the rim. Neither team looked good and only worthy of 18-25 type rankings at best. But to be fair, it is the first day of a long season so they have to improve.
A win over Boston College has meant nothing for at least 15 years. So uh… that preseason Boston college win isn’t looking so hot anymore. 😬
It’s exactly why she went there.Beers up to 27 on 12-15 shooting. Meanwhile Chavez is 5-18 and 1-8 behind the arc. That's a lot of shots to get to 14 points. Verlhurst has 11 on 9 attempts.
It's only 1 game, but the Sooners have talent other than Chavez. They really don't need her being a high volume inefficient scorer.
That’sLoyola, Maryland only trailed the Maryland Terps 18-11 after Q1. Shoulda quit there. Only scored 15 more points the rest of the way and lost 80-26.
