I hate to sound like sour grapes, but that's exactly how I felt too.

I thought the refs did a good job tonight....yes they missed some but it was fairly called on both sides
So the 11-0 shots at one point didn't bother you? It only evened out when they HAD to foul, and even some of them were multiple fouls just to get the whistle blown.

Didn't bother me at all. We had quite a few questionable calls go our way too. Notre Dame was getting to the line because they were driving and rebounding more.

If that's what you saw, then I have nothing else to say. I watched a different game.

As Nan would say (or something like it), the Refs had no effect on the outcome of the game; fair enough.
That's all one can ask for.
Also, we don't get these 3 for the final.

Here's the thing. ESPN tried to tell a story that didn't involve UConn, for some reason. Maybe because we didn't have any uber-seniors (in their eyes, in ours there's Kelly and CD). And what happens, none of them make to the final. And the one that got to the semi-finals didn't perform well for most of the game.

On the flip side they had UConn, the last of the old school perennial teams. 6 FF in a row. Old news. Want NEW news. Lost the last X games vs ND. Suffering injuries left and right and our junior star is walking wounded. It's all but written right? Right?

Thank you ESPN. Your attempt to show your are "neutral" by preparing to tell about ND's 4th win against UConn backfired all over you. So now the two teams in the Final are the ones that only got 30% of your poll while vast swaths of the nation got it wrong. So quick, get your writers to knock out another angle. I'm betting it'll be Louisville David Vs UConn Goliath. Maybe you can talk about all THREE of our freshmen. After all Tuck made more of an impact in this game than _BonnBonn aka MoJef did.

Did not bother me at all. I watched the first half very closely with my brother and we both agreed - the refs were letting them play, but the fouls called against UCONN were mostly because we were fouling them and it was obvious. UCONN is more of a jump shooting team. ND is a driving team with exceptional guards. I seriously had no issue with the foul disparity in the 1st half.

I also really enjoyed the announcers. Yes Skyler is a senior and one of the 3 to see, but at one point Doris said the new story should be the one to watch in the future, and that was Breanna Stewart. ESPN probably felt this was the de-facto NC game. No one gives L'ville a chance, or much of one, but they will still have to report about it.

Of course UCONN is the big favorite. This is such an unexpected turn of events. If we win it all on Tuesday, it will be one of the least expected NC's (to me) in our history. I actually liked the announcers a lot too.

Uconn continually shot perimeter jump shots while ND attacked the basket. Of course they are going to shoot more free throws

I didn't see that at all. I thought they doled out the praise quite evenly and gave pertinent info. But, I guess we all see things with our own biases. (At least that's what the shrink told me when I complained about all the dirty pictures he showed me during the ink blot test.)

Big difference was we contested everything at the rim. We were overplaying the perimeter hard, and giving them some back cuts, so they had a ton of shots in the first half from three feet and in. We blocked several, altered others, but got there too late a couple times. The first 2 foul shots from Diggins on a Faris fly-by block/swipe were iffy, but perhaps the referee heard contact. After that all the shooting fouls were pretty much clear fouls - mostly us saying we weren't going to concede the easy two.

We had some shots at the rim on our end, mostly on at least four put-backs (KML 2, Tuck 1, Dolson 1), and ND didn't contest them. They were cognizant of foul trouble and just stood there with their hands up. I honestly couldn't think of a single time in the first half when we should have gone to the line. They missed a couple in the second half, but i thought the most egregious one - Dolson should have had 2 - turned into a 3-point play for Stewart.

The announcers in game sure but the trio in the corner, no what happen wasn't the plan.

This was probably the best officiating that I've seen this year. I'm not sure how anyone could see it any other way.

ND has made their living this year by making free throws. They did it by aggressively attacking in the paint - not by poor officiating.

Yeah, officiating was nothing noticeably open to complaint, so they were doing exactly what they're hired to do. The big weird one on the coverage was when I believe Geno or maybe Stewie was being interviewed and there is a cut to Diggins running off through the hallway. Even if it was happening at the same time with Diggins running off into the sunset, it looked odd to show it in the midst of the interview.

We didn't beat the refs or the announcers, we beat Notre Dame. Refs are human and I'm always going to disagree with some of their calls, but I thought the officiating was pretty good last night. As for the announcers, they may blab away and be incredibly annoying (shut up, Doris!) and cause me to drink more than I should, but they have absolutely no impact on the outcome of the game.

I attended the game and thought the refs were even-handed and mostly on target with the game they called. Couldn't evaluate the TV announcers until I watched a replay this morning. Couldn't hear anything to complain about there either, except for the inevitable feeling that all of the announcers today, and, frankly, the female announcers especially, seem to be products of the Mary Carillo School of Broadcasting...that is, ignore any situation that does not necessarily require any speech whatsoever, and say something, however inane!

That was one of the best officiated games I've seen. Very few questionable calls.

I thought there were quite a few non-calls , especially early, that could have been made. Quite a number on UCONN as well as ND.

Compared to a lot of other games this year, the officiating was pretty good.

That is how I felt, too.
