Thanks to Geno, CD & staff and all of our wonderful student athletes.
For those of us invested in UConn and NCAAW basketball, the season is
always something we all look forward to and enriches our lives. Let's go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's on-topic from my point of view. I love how UConn has already backed up their fall 2023 "Basketball Capital of the World" self-label with additional men's and women's titles. Awesome. Great for the programs and the school rep. We need to stay on top right now. Maybe we'll have another dual championship next season... who knows?

I almost made it until was over...yup I'm a chicken when it comes to watching this year's Final Four

I can’t explain how happy I am for Paige and the team. So many injuries, so much heartbreak, even this season they looked really rough at times. And they end the season by absolutely demolishing three 1 seeds to win it all

I was lucky enough to be a student on campus for all 4 of 2013-2016. By far, without ANY doubt, this was my favorite one.

LETS GO HUSKIES

Paige is going out on top with a great accomplishment blowout NC game. She is now not only a great player but a UConn and National Legend.
True, the monetary environment is different between the men’s and women’s game, but Paige did better waiting a year and going out on top.
Liam is from a top notch family who traveled long distances to support him nearly every game and he is a super competitor with tons of talent from long hours in the gym.
However, the inescapable conclusion is Liam should come back, accomplish something and go to the pros a man of accomplishment and a Champion.
He is capable of great things, but his zip code should be Storrs next year. Getting stronger and kick butt in Storrs and then the nation.

I lost a lot of faith in this team after Tennessee. I am very happy to be proven wrong. Geno’s interview was revealing. Something changed with this team and they gelled and they trusted each other and it really took off on the court.

I always thought the team was flawed. That it wasn’t athletic enough and it was weak in the front court. But again. I was clearly wrong. They matched their skill with grit and became unstoppable.

I am going to miss Chen, Paige, and Aubrey. And I will always remember what they accomplished.

I always thought Azzi was the key to this game. And she delivered. The allegations that Azzi is not a big game player are dead.

And for most outstanding player. I would go with Sarah strong. It could be Azzi though.

I have to be honest, in the beginning of the year. I did not think we had any possibility of a national championship. I am so happy to be wrong. Women on this team have gone through so much. This is definitely one of the most gratifying. Congratulations!!!!!

It was a tough, unpretty, toughly contested game.
Maybe the defense was not quite as stifling as it has been.

But then UConn hit the switch, and SC didn't have a chance.
Just too any weapons.

Congrats UConn fans! The end to the title drought was always a when, not an if. We lost to a better team and if we had to lose, I’m glad to see Paige finally win the title after all she’s been through.

From our side, hell of a follow-up season for us! Got everything except the grand prize.

Some thoughts on the South Carolina game:
  • Most teams would be happy to win a national championship every 9 years or so. For UConn WBB it felt like an eternity, as the Huskies become the first team in WBB history to beat three #1 seeds, winning a record 12th championship.
  • For the 2nd game in a row, Azzi started out fast, scoring early and often. In addition, she was huge picking Fulwiley’s pocket twice for breakaway layups. WHAT A GAME AZZI PLAYED TODAY!!!
  • SC was crashing the boards in waves, something they did not do vs UConn in February. Sarah was a monster on the boards, often coming down with rebounds amongst swarms of Gamecocks. I will say it again. Sarah is the best rebounder ever to play at UConn, coming up HUGE with 15 rebounds in the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
  • UConn’s Big 3 came up BIG, UConn’s defense was relentless and order has returned to the universe. :)
  • KK and Ash both came up really big off the bench.
  • Over the past 10-20 years there has been a proliferation of talented coaches in WBB. But Geno is still the GOAT, with the top staff in in the game. No one does a better job of getting the very best out of their team in March & April. When SC made a minnie run in the 3rd qtr, Geno called a timeout, went to the small lineup he had only used sparingly today, and it was GAME OVER.
  • As Willie Shakespeare said, "Past is Prologue." A lot of pundits minimized UConn's 29 pt win at SC in February, insisting that this game would be much closer. Apparently not.
  • I love this team for who they are and what they have achieved. Aubrey, Kaitlyn and Paige will be leaving UConn with a national championship along with our eternal gratitude and affection.
  • A final comment on Paige’s extraordinary career. No player has faced and overcome more adversity before ultimately leading UConn to a championship. No one has ever deserved this victory today more than Paige. Watching Paige fall into Geno's arms in tears at the end of the game brought me, and I'm sure many others, to tears as well,
  • In just 7 more months we can all strap in and watch UConn WBB go after #13. GO HUSKIES!!!
