After the absolute disaster that program was facing from the actions of the previous scumbag HC, she has done a phenomenal job. Was really, really happy to see her get this recognition.
Like we said when discussing the abundant number of player of the year awards. You get Spalding, you get WBCA names out there (not that they are not already, but it doesn't hurt I'm sure) plus you have a way to remember Maggie Dixon at a time when many folks are probably not aware of who she was.
Mildly OT, but during the men's tourney (I only watched snippets, and only because Arizona was expected . . .) I saw her brother Jamie Dixon and I do feel old, because he looks old. Compared to the Jamie Dixon I remember of Pitt days. Same thing I mentioned in a separate thread, when you don't see someone for years, it is really noticeable.
I know the season did not end the way Florida wanted it but what she did was amazing. Taking over a program after the HC scandal, losing Briggs in the middle of the year, for them to do what they did was a terrific job by Finley. You could tell those players loved playing for her.
It made me sad though that Florida couldn't put their best foot forward at NCAAT with no Kiki. It was honestly one of the best stories of the year.
