WBCA All-Americans:
UConn's Breanna Stewart, Moriah Jefferson, Morgan Tuck;
South Carolina's A'ja Wilson;
South Florida's Courtney Williams;
Oregon State's Jamie Weisner;
Ohio State's Kelsey Mitchell;
Baylor's Nina Davis;
Notre Dame's Brianna Turner;
Washington's Kelsey Plum.

Congratulations to Brianna Turner, her family and the Notre Dame Women's Basketball program. After seeing her play during her freshman year, it was evident she was going to be great. On several occasions the last two years, I predicted that she would be an All-American by the end of her "junior" year. I didn't need any of my soothsaying aids (crystal ball, tarot cards, snake oil, rabbit's feet, tea leaves etc.) to see that one. That was easy. I was a year off on my prediction. I didn't think she would develop as quickly as she obviously has.

Now, I'm going to take it a step further. Carnac predicts that Turner will be a first round draft choice in the WNBA after her senior year. That's a prediction I didn't have to step too far out on a limb to make.

Congratulations to ALL of this year's All-America award winners.

Just wanted to say,congrats to our three all Americans,especially Morgan.Words cannot express what these three ladies,Morgan,Mo,and Stewie have given the fans these four years.Morgan,congrats for finally making the wall,it is well deserved,and you and your two classmates have given me a lot of happiness from your play,your attitude,and your representation of Connecticut.

Really Heartwarming news
I was so worried about how Morgan might react to her omission.
Richly deserved.

The mods finally caught up with you, you #$$@%%^& :)
Actually - there have been a few weird things popping up when I do replies the last 24 hours. It usual has actually gone through and occasionally I have double posted and have to delete the second on.

Welp, that cinches it: She's gone! :(

Not necessarily.
There's the little matter of 5 (count-em) National Championship rings...
Nobody will ever do that (again).

Just checked Lindsey Harding won in 2007 at 5'8" and Jennifer Risper in 2009 at 5'9" otherwise it is all centers - Sylvia, Stef, Brittany, and Elizabeth last year.

So Moriah at 5'7" listed height is likely the shortest.

And if they acknowledged her correct height (mentioned on air this week) it would be even more remarkable

People are getting me confuse. I am so glad she made it in.

But why did some of these other posts say she didn't make it a couple of days ago? Really confusing I tell ya.

Congratulation Tuck.

Morgan made the coaches' team (WBCA) not the sports writers' team (USBWA).

This is THREE 1st Team All-Americans from the same recruiting class, not just the same team. I think it's unprecedented.

In any case, Geno, CD, et al. did a great job of recruiting and coaching these guys up.
Awesome catch, Milford. I've done a little research and believe you're right. Because I knew that UConn had placed three players on the WBCA All-America team a few times before, I think I failed to realize just how rare a feat this was. Unless I missed one, here's a list of every time one school has had three representatives since the Kodak/State Farm/WBCA All-America Team's inception in 1975:

1999: Tennessee (Catchings, Holdsclaw, Randall)

2oo2: UConn (Bird, Cash, Taurasi)

2009: UConn (Charles, Montgomery, Moore)

2014: UConn (Dolson, Hartley, Stewart)

2015: UConn (Jefferson, Mosqueda-Lewis, Stewart)

2016: UConn (Jefferson, Stewart, Tuck)

List of past WBCA All-America Teams

Of those six groups, this year's is the only one that contains three members of the same recruiting class. So you're right, this is unprecedented.

I have been traveling and am late on the draw here!!!

Morgan, I don't remember the last time I was this proud!!!! Congratulations to you and your teammates who assisted in this...... You are such an invaluable part of the Huskie's success, and it would have sucked to not have you celebrated on the wall at Gampel.....

You are so so so deserving and I am thrilled for you and Husky Nation to be able to share your joy.

I put together a crazy color coded spreadsheet of AAs, and the Final Four teams. I will not update it until after the national championship. It's all about the mojo.

Hopefully Mo ends up getting MOP at the final 4 this year and shows all the other schools who claim to have the best point guard just how that position is played. Also would mean that Uconn must have gotten number 11 since a Uconn player won the award.Go Mo and Go Huskies.

We had to graduate a great one (KML) to finally get an injustice taken care of. This is the happiest thing that could happen to UConn as far as I am concerned, short of the 4pest honor, because that badge, should it be pressed, will be worn forever by 3 great seniors.
